I feel like a GPU holder is still going to do a better job. The method that the guy suggests is just increasing the pressure on the back of the card and on the PCIe slot, so it would bend even more, even though visually, its going to be straight.

With a GPU holder, its never going to bend. A GPU holder usually comes with high end MOBOs or you can just 3D print one, or buy one for like 6 dollars ...
