NVIDIA launched its new variant of the GeForce RTX 3050 with 6 GB (vs. 8 GB) of memory last week, and according to a few benchmarks that have made their way online, users can expect a new GPU that performs around 20% worse than the original model. That said, the new GeForce RTX 3050 features a 70-watt TGP, making it much more power efficient than the older models.

GeForce RTX 3050 (6 GB) key specs/differences:

CUDA cores: 2,304 (vs. 2,560)
Boost clock: 1.47 GHz (vs. 1.78 GHz)
Memory capacity: 6 GB (vs. 8 GB)
Memory type: GDDR6
TGP: 70 watts (vs. 115, 130 watts)

Looks like NVIDIA is targeting a more power-efficient segment with this new RTX 3050 6?GB. You’re trading about 20% performance for lower power draw (70?W TGP vs 115–130?W), fewer CUDA cores, and slightly lower boost clocks. For light gaming or small-form-factor builds where power/heat is a concern, it could make sense—but for high-performance gaming, the original 8?GB version is still the better choice.

The new RTX 3050 6?GB is slower (~20%) than the original 8?GB version due to fewer CUDA cores, lower boost clocks, and less memory—but it’s much more power-efficient at 70?W.
