Doom3 circa 2003-4? You kidding me? That game engine is by-gone era now compared to whats been out even in the last 3 years. Why not mod it on a more recent FPSer game like Crysis 1/2?

Well, its source code has been released; was UT source released? No.
I don't mind using an old engine as long as the game is fun.
Looking at the first video, it's the same dark crap as Doom 3 was, so it does not look like it's going to be fun.

Uhmm.. Crysis 1 source code was never released and yet they have some of the best mods (ie. MechWarrior). Some PC games have never even had official mod tools and yet modders find ways to change the game to look/play even better than most paid dev/artists. Can never under-estimate a planet worth of committed modders with passion and drive as their motive.
