Interesting because all of those movies sucked. Fast Five and Thor less so, but far from good anyway.
I've been forced into watching my old DVDs this year. Thanks Hollywood!
I can only hope that there will be good movies coming out next year.
A new Riddick movie would be nice.

Piracy? No thanks.
Not my problem, neither.

That's probably a fake list, because none of those movies are worth watching.

I'm surprised from the number of downloads, lol!
Whats the big deal with Hollywood then ? Those are a small numbers that didnt harm the income, many of these movies made a bilion worldwide from all kind of sales!

I'm not surprised at all about the downloads.
Pirates will download ANYTHING, it's just the thrill of getting something for nothing. Even if they hate it, be it music or kids films, they'll still download it.
Even if a game is given away free on the internet -be it the usual registration etc- i'll think seriously about downloading it. If it's worth the hassle, will i EVEN play it??
Let's face it. a DVD copy of those films is soooo cheap. It shows how $HIT their home cinema equipment -or not- is.
Me, it's got to be 3D or blu-ray. DVD is just crap VHS/BETAMAX quality now.

I downloaded and watched everything minus Rango (saw it at a theater with the kids), 127 hours (didn't care to watch it), and I am number four (expected trash so meh). Fast Five I knew it was sequel garbage and pretty much the same with the rest. Kings speech took me a couple days as I would doze off.

Anyways I'm not surprised by any of this being that many people wised up and started using these as a means to demo before purchasing. I know I'm not alone on this forum with a decently sized DvD collection/Blu-ray/Season Sets.

Hollywood should be glad people even use the energy to pirate it, be glad those that pirate it don't watch it anyway.

They're losing a lot of money. Imagine if 5-10% out of all those people where people who would have gone to see the actual movie. Of course they're angry at the lost money. Personally i wouldn't go watch any of those movies because i think they're trash. I didn't even download them, that's how bad i consider them to be.

Stumpus already said that these people download everything for just the heck of it - without even watching these movies. So, was there damage done? Nope, because they did not even watch the movies.
Also, I would guess that these so-called losses are relative; if they make billions on tickets, DVD, Blueray, etc sales, what's 10mil to a billion? Probably the investigations and legal fees are more than that.
I understand the majority of pirate copies (actual copies on disk with case, cover and everything, not downloads) originate from Asia.
Hollywood has no power in Asia at all - so there's no point going after the pirates.
Clever pirates in the US (where Hollywood does have power) use zombie networks, so Hollywood would drag granny to court instead, who has no clue what's going on - and she really did not download any of that crap; her PC did (by someone else controlling it remotely).

who said that none of these people went to watch a move in theater before or after downloading it?

don't be so cynical. I didn't pirate half of these because I think they suck, but I saw some (not from this list particulary) of them in theater and wanted to watch them again at some point, usually friends come over, we get bear, snacks, some of us smoke (not allowed in theater, and I can't go and watch lord of the rings without a smoke, it's too fucking long lol ) etc, and idea to watch the specific movie pops up suddenly and it's faster to DL-a movie then try and find an open DVD club at 10pm...

I'm not sure about rental places or clubs but netflix has taken over here in the states along with redbox. Netflix is nice as is the other but I'm not limited in my choices etc.

netflix is not available in Serbia, redbox seems to be but I don't know what quality are those movies in? I need 720p or 1080p, not a shitty DVD 480p. I need a DTS or good DD audio. I don't watch movies on 768p plasma TV using built in speakers. I worked hard and long to acquire stuff that I have.

I admit that I may be bit complicated person but I hate to be forced to pay for something of lower quality when I can get the higher quality for free. In the US you have salaries that are 5 and more times bigger than in Serbia. I had to save money for a year to buy a 600€ TV (that costs 400$ in USA :/ ) so our points of view may be very different. My jobs pays only 360€ per month (like most of jobs here) and I have to eat, pay bills and shit. I have to work on the side just to be able to actually afford some stuff that I'd like to have. I can't afford to make a legal collection of DVDs or BlueRays, I rent movies sometimes because it's only a euro. I am certainly not paying 50€ for a video game (there is no return policy here, you can't return shit that you don't like).

I am not bitchin' I am just trying to explain why it not always cheap to buy something because not everyone lives in USA, Canada, Germany etc. But, all dowsides aside, there are also many upsides to a living in this shit hole...

I don't think Serbia, or Europe as a whole is a shithole, we don't get to see most of the crap and other spam Americans have to see the whole day long.

agreed, I just didn't want to get into details about that. I traveled a lot, I was amazed how tasteless strawberries in UK are, and how for the same amount of money I would get 2kg of them in Serbia instead of ~250 grams in UK :d But then again, I would prefer a better job and wage, on the other hand, I don't have to work too much here on my regular job, things are more relaxed and we don't have cubicles, at all, nowhere. Then again, some things are cheaper, some more expensive, overall standard is lower but life can be more relaxed, less crime, more free time (especially if (because) you can't find a job xD )

Ticket price for theater is ~5 euros (and even less in smaller towns) so you can go watch a movie, but I am not going to give 20 euros for a DVD to watch it again at home. I explained it earlier already. I also would never give 1 euro to a street bootleg pirate because he is really going to far and I do not support taking something for free and making profit out of it. I do pirate things, but I do not profit off of them. I hate people that do (I don't hate them per say, I just don't support them and don't like them. Most people don't and they are dyeing breed because of internet availability) I also don't burn copies of movies or games, I mostly delete every one of them asap because I can't afford to throw money on HDDs and I hate loud computers (2 HDDs = loud for me).

I am not trying to justify piracy, I am just giving another perspective to who ever is interested to read it and try and understand it. Movie theater experience cannot be substituted by home cinema of any kind (I am talking 30-50 inch TVs) and it's worth watching the movie in theater if you like it. After that, hell, I payed once, go F your self hollywood lol It's not like you are filming it every time I watch it at home right? Car company doesn't charge me every time I want to drive car that I bought right?
