Interesting because all of those movies sucked. Fast Five and Thor less so, but far from good anyway.
I've been forced into watching my old DVDs this year. Thanks Hollywood!
I can only hope that there will be good movies coming out next year.
A new Riddick movie would be nice.

Piracy? No thanks.
Not my problem, neither.

-=WolverinE=-(08:48 AM CET - Dec,28 2011 )
That's probably a fake list, because none of those movies are worth watching.

tride(11:10 AM CET - Dec,28 2011 )
I'm surprised from the number of downloads, lol!
Whats the big deal with Hollywood then ? Those are a small numbers that didnt harm the income, many of these movies made a bilion worldwide from all kind of sales!

Sabot(02:15 PM CET - Dec,28 2011 )
I'm not surprised at all about the downloads.
Pirates will download ANYTHING, it's just the thrill of getting something for nothing. Even if they hate it, be it music or kids films, they'll still download it.
Even if a game is given away free on the internet -be it the usual registration etc- i'll think seriously about downloading it. If it's worth the hassle, will i EVEN play it??
Let's face it. a DVD copy of those films is soooo cheap. It shows how $HIT their home cinema equipment -or not- is.
Me, it's got to be 3D or blu-ray. DVD is just crap VHS/BETAMAX quality now.

Baconnaise(09:56 PM CET - Dec,28 2011 )
I downloaded and watched everything minus Rango (saw it at a theater with the kids), 127 hours (didn't care to watch it), and I am number four (expected trash so meh). Fast Five I knew it was sequel garbage and pretty much the same with the rest. Kings speech took me a couple days as I would doze off.

Anyways I'm not surprised by any of this being that many people wised up and started using these as a means to demo before purchasing. I know I'm not alone on this forum with a decently sized DvD collection/Blu-ray/Season Sets.

Ozieo(12:27 AM CET - Dec,29 2011 )
Hollywood should be glad people even use the energy to pirate it, be glad those that pirate it don't watch it anyway.

They're losing a lot of money. Imagine if 5-10% out of all those people where people who would have gone to see the actual movie. Of course they're angry at the lost money. Personally i wouldn't go watch any of those movies because i think they're trash. I didn't even download them, that's how bad i consider them to be.

Stumpus already said that these people download everything for just the heck of it - without even watching these movies. So, was there damage done? Nope, because they did not even watch the movies.
Also, I would guess that these so-called losses are relative; if they make billions on tickets, DVD, Blueray, etc sales, what's 10mil to a billion? Probably the investigations and legal fees are more than that.
I understand the majority of pirate copies (actual copies on disk with case, cover and everything, not downloads) originate from Asia.
Hollywood has no power in Asia at all - so there's no point going after the pirates.
Clever pirates in the US (where Hollywood does have power) use zombie networks, so Hollywood would drag granny to court instead, who has no clue what's going on - and she really did not download any of that crap; her PC did (by someone else controlling it remotely).

who said that none of these people went to watch a move in theater before or after downloading it?

don't be so cynical. I didn't pirate half of these because I think they suck, but I saw some (not from this list particulary) of them in theater and wanted to watch them again at some point, usually friends come over, we get bear, snacks, some of us smoke (not allowed in theater, and I can't go and watch lord of the rings without a smoke, it's too fucking long lol ) etc, and idea to watch the specific movie pops up suddenly and it's faster to DL-a movie then try and find an open DVD club at 10pm...

I'm not sure about rental places or clubs but netflix has taken over here in the states along with redbox. Netflix is nice as is the other but I'm not limited in my choices etc.

netflix is not available in Serbia, redbox seems to be but I don't know what quality are those movies in? I need 720p or 1080p, not a shitty DVD 480p. I need a DTS or good DD audio. I don't watch movies on 768p plasma TV using built in speakers. I worked hard and long to acquire stuff that I have.

I admit that I may be bit complicated person but I hate to be forced to pay for something of lower quality when I can get the higher quality for free. In the US you have salaries that are 5 and more times bigger than in Serbia. I had to save money for a year to buy a 600€ TV (that costs 400$ in USA :/ ) so our points of view may be very different. My jobs pays only 360€ per month (like most of jobs here) and I have to eat, pay bills and shit. I have to work on the side just to be able to actually afford some stuff that I'd like to have. I can't afford to make a legal collection of DVDs or BlueRays, I rent movies sometimes because it's only a euro. I am certainly not paying 50€ for a video game (there is no return policy here, you can't return shit that you don't like).

I am not bitchin' I am just trying to explain why it not always cheap to buy something because not everyone lives in USA, Canada, Germany etc. But, all dowsides aside, there are also many upsides to a living in this shit hole...

Ozieo(01:55 AM CET - Dec,30 2011 )
I don't think Serbia, or Europe as a whole is a shithole, we don't get to see most of the crap and other spam Americans have to see the whole day long.

Ozieo> I don't think Serbia, or Europe as a whole is a shithole, we don't get to see most of the crap and other spam Americans have to see the whole day long.

agreed, I just didn't want to get into details about that. I traveled a lot, I was amazed how tasteless strawberries in UK are, and how for the same amount of money I would get 2kg of them in Serbia instead of ~250 grams in UK :d But then again, I would prefer a better job and wage, on the other hand, I don't have to work too much here on my regular job, things are more relaxed and we don't have cubicles, at all, nowhere. Then again, some things are cheaper, some more expensive, overall standard is lower but life can be more relaxed, less crime, more free time (especially if (because) you can't find a job xD )

Ticket price for theater is ~5 euros (and even less in smaller towns) so you can go watch a movie, but I am not going to give 20 euros for a DVD to watch it again at home. I explained it earlier already. I also would never give 1 euro to a street bootleg pirate because he is really going to far and I do not support taking something for free and making profit out of it. I do pirate things, but I do not profit off of them. I hate people that do (I don't hate them per say, I just don't support them and don't like them. Most people don't and they are dyeing breed because of internet availability) I also don't burn copies of movies or games, I mostly delete every one of them asap because I can't afford to throw money on HDDs and I hate loud computers (2 HDDs = loud for me).

I am not trying to justify piracy, I am just giving another perspective to who ever is interested to read it and try and understand it. Movie theater experience cannot be substituted by home cinema of any kind (I am talking 30-50 inch TVs) and it's worth watching the movie in theater if you like it. After that, hell, I payed once, go F your self hollywood lol It's not like you are filming it every time I watch it at home right? Car company doesn't charge me every time I want to drive car that I bought right?

Hahah absolutely it can. You just haven't been keeping up with A/V tech. Too much to say against why NOT to go to movie theaters thats long since been covered but the pluses for home vastly out-weight the minuses in favour of home viewing for whats out there.

Anyway, I grabbed all those top downloaded movies but I grabbed them NOT using the usual sources. Just love collecting movies to share among my entire family and friends. So transportable via key drives, maintaining high quality (not BR but WTF do we need to see someone's sweat pores and blades of grass?!?!) with 5.1+ Surround, etc etc...

Couldn't care less about their profits when every time a blockbuster seems to come out it breaks records since little Johnny is taking his new GF to see it to impress her. All good people.. there will always be kids to go watch these flicks to sustain the model.

you just don't have a 20+ meter screen covering your field of view. No cinema I have been to so far can match my hi-fi/hi-end audio setup, but they can all blow me away with visual experience.

besides, I mentioned LCDTVs and Plasma screens, I didn't mention your own private cinema room with 1080p or dual 1080p projectors for 3D and desirable distance for viewing. Home projectors ARE NOT part of my remark.
and if you have a 50" TV cinema is still far better. I don't care if it's 3D, even 2D good cinema is better. Immersion is far far better.

and most of you guys don't have audio setup to cover your 3D TVs etc. My audio is worth like 2x50" 3D TVs xD

to call your home cinema close to "theater experience" you need something like this:

so don't fool yourself....

Csimbi(07:52 AM CET - Dec,30 2011 )
It'd be nice to have one of those.
I wonder how much a home theater like that would cost...
This was my first home theater system:

gx-x(08:19 AM CET - Dec,30 2011 )
that was never HT system. I have Grunding make TV, color, still works, looks like that from pic. 35-36 years old now. That's just TV, like a todays 32 or 42" TV. Whoever told you that is HT system Display and made you believe it - is a great sales man. :D

Thudo(03:45 PM CET - Dec,30 2011 )
I'll always come up wayy ahead of you theater goers in the long run.. Why? Because a) I share everything to all others who would otherwise never see the movie ever b) I save considerable cost in the long run c) I save lots of time on doing it all in-house, d) the Home Theater does wayy more than watch movies, what do actual theaters do beyond watch mere movies? e) I can change the entire A/V experience within a short time period to suit changing tech. How long do theaters take to retrofit compared to the home? f) my home can suit what I WANT rather than f**king lugan teenagers disrupting the experience.. Shall I go on with the reason why the Theater experience will ultimately be FAIL BAIT in this model? Enuff said..

Sure it was.
Only at that time, the definition of home theater was different - if you had a TV, you were the "king of the hill".

We were talking ONLY about movies, nothing else. I guess if you have connections or work in theater you can hook up PC to the projector and game :D

Besides, theater is a different experience, especially if you watch a 3D movie. They don't need to retrofit anything unless it's some old theater. Most modern theaters already have good surround systems, great ones can make a quake with subwoofers, literally, while I can make similar effect in my apartment, it's unlikely that I can push 600 watts and 130db without getting neighbors to ring my bell :D (they don't complain when I push ~200 watts which is more than satisfactory for an ~18m2 room :P )

Anyway, home theater and real theater are different experience all together, both have their pros and cons.

Thudo(06:26 PM CET - Dec,30 2011 )
Yep and Home Theater has more pros then does the actual Theater will ever now have. ;) Back in the day, yep, actual Theater was the way to go but now? Absolutely not. Not in this fast-paced society and "lugan" generation of general teenage dumb-a*sery! :D

gx-x(07:14 PM CET - Dec,30 2011 )
well, to me it's like headphones versus loudspeakers...on the other note, I really cannot afford 100" 3D screen lol

Thudo(08:28 PM CET - Dec,30 2011 )
Decent 7.2 Surround systems are worth every penny. As they say in A/V circles: there is NOTHING called over-kill. :)

Further, current 60" LEDs are more than enough and decent ones start at $1200 being ~120Hz. Like I said, such setups are not restricted to just movie watching. ;)

gx-x(08:58 PM CET - Dec,30 2011 )

wait a sec. 60" LED what? LED is just type of screen light, there are TN screen screens with LED (as opposed to CCFL type) and as I said, 60" compared to 1000" is pretty much small :D Also, I'd rather get an 1080p projector for 1200$ and have a 100-200" picture on a good backdrop panel.

My local cinema can reproduce every type od DD or DTS sound, be it 7.1 or even 8.1 (number of subwoofers in the .X parameter depends on the room acoustics, .2 is usually more then enough to eliminate any bass holes and to negate standing waves, 4 is almost perfect, depending on positioning , phase and of course room/hall itself.

yet, having 7.1 on a 5.1 movie needs to employ some kind of DSP to re-calculate positioning and as far as I cans ay, it far from perfect, I'd rather just go direct mode and employ only 5.1 for 5.1 encoded audio stream just as I would go for 2 speakers for listening to stereo music. More does not always equal better.

anyway, I still stand by my preference, having a small home theater setup myself, theater has pros in means of picture size, loudness and immersion. To rival it you really need a small home theater like the ones on the pictures I posted above. Everything else is fine, but it's just that, fine.

Thudo(09:02 PM CET - Dec,30 2011 )
Right but who has time these days to travel to get to it? I'd rather sit @ home in my underwear with my brews watching anything I want without the BS of theater time. Its like the arcade: once consoles became mini arcade shops that ended that era. So have current A/V setups coupled with the fact the theater experience is now a chore whereas before it was an event. I want control over my experience, not some corp exec.

gx-x(09:35 PM CET - Dec,30 2011 )
well, If you need an hour to go to the movies, half more to get tickets and seats than yes, it's a chore. I can't imagine that you have lack of theaters in Toronto? o.O

Thudo(09:40 PM CET - Dec,30 2011 )
Oh Theaters aren't remotely a problem.. its the setup time, lugan teenage gangs, cost of popcorn/drinks, etc etc that are turn-offs. Further, we're not a family who will go see anything 0 hour like we used to. We're much smarter than that. We're more patient to wait for a TS/R5 or the DVD/BRrip regardless + we can share the content quickly since everyone now has USB-aware players (in my family now they do). Complete win-win.

Sure we'll go theater-bound once and a while if its a SUPER GOOD movie but, meh.. we're long past the infantile "bragging rights" point ;)

tride(11:34 PM CET - Dec,30 2011 )
I love going to the theater with friends! But pirating has nothing to do with price or something else!
It's just the feeling of being screwed after seeing some hollywood bullshit, that you get after leaving the theater! I have better ways to spend my money than supporting USA's retarded cinema industry! SORRY!
So, i do pirate to see stupid movies like those in the most pirated list!
We see them with my girl, friends etc.

And watching movies in home is way better experience than going to cinemas these days!
I dont have home cinema theater system of any kind!
I just got a 27inch monitor, some decent Panasonic 5.1 surround and thats it!
The company is what makes it nice at home! The company is what makes it nice in the theater BUT the fukin retarded people who eat pop-corn so loud, cellphones, some idiot jerk trying to impress some chick as loud as hi can get..... those things just dont work for me! And they are as common as everything these days!

Thudo(11:36 PM CET - Dec,30 2011 )
Amen, Tride! My experience also but otherwise have a good Home Theater setup with in-wall 150W speakers, THX Receiver.. other sh*t I best not say that might make the next door neighbours upset :P

Baconnaise(09:16 PM CET - Jan,01 2012 )
I really don't see a problem with anything 42-55" in size. Smallest one I have is a 42" and I can even watch it a good 20 feet or more away. I can see getting a larger screen if you have an enormous room and want to build a specific area around it but it's not necessary. I don't have a problem with watching things on a computer monitor either. I used to watch shows on my 13" in the kitchen way back in the day even though I had 35" tv's. Eat a sandwich at my bar turn on 13" and end up finishing a whole show there no problem.

Today's gear makes it easier to mount and setup extra equipment than previously since your options are more open. They have wireless subs among other setups now so it takes little effort.

I would have to agree with some here that movies in the home are far superior already considering the lowering costs of BR players not to mention internet and even streaming services through cables or netflix type of services. I haven't need a BR player since I can do all that on my computer and stream it to my TV over my gigabit net. I see the smaller console like boxes that support all formats and have the large capacities taking over dvr's and playback of content personally. It's quite easy to buy an external or build one yourself for storage and just share it between another devices that's under a hundred dollars to your tv's in the house.

What I'm more interested in is if we're going to 4gige or 10gige and skipping the 2gig and 4gig iterations for home networking. Imagine a 10gige being integrated on board with laptops or pc's let alone stand alone cards going for under a hundred dollars in a couple years. That's some massive bandwidth.

gx-x(09:42 PM CET - Jan,01 2012 )
I didn't say there was a problem, it is certainly better than anything 19" and 22" in size right? Therefore, the size of image in theater is better than 42~55" screen size at home. Taking a swim in the sea is better than taking a swim in the pool, driving a 300hp car is better than driving a 50hp car etc.

experience is different, that's all I'm saying. I can enjoy a movie on any screen, but, if there is no hassle, theater is the best one out there. You can't convince me that it's better to watch movie on a 42" screen then on a 600" (or whatever) screen. Having a screen that covers your full or near full field of vision guarantees best possible immersion. You need to sit too close to 42" screen to get that experience, and then your eyes hurt after a while. Watching it from a 4-5 meters is not comparable to a theater (I am not saying it is not enjoyable).
This has nothing to do with how easy or available home setup is or can be. My LG TV can play 1080p movies and output audio via digital out. That pretty much eliminates the need for any separate box to play movies, I can just jack in HDD via USB rack and whoila.

I don't think you have a problem with it. Costs don't seem to be worth it imo when compared nowadays. I'm weird though and prefer swimming in a pool than the sea. When we had a local outdoor movie screens where you could still sit in your car and watch movies on a gigantic screen for four or five bucks it used to be worth it for me. Shame they closed it down here :(.

XnResize - XnResize is a fast, powerful and free cross-platform image resizer. Nowadays, the resolution of pictures taken by digital cameras can be very high. It is fine when you want to view them, or print them out. But when it comes to share them with your friends or colleagues, it’s better to shrink them with an image resizer : it will take less time to upload on social medias, take less space on smartphones, but still let everyone enjoy your photos. XnResize helps you to do that : It lets you lower the resolution, and convert your photos to more size-efficient formats. All common picture and graphic formats are supported (JPEG, TIFF, PNG, GIF, WEBP, PSD, JPEG2000, OpenEXR, camera RAW, HEIC, PDF, DNG, CR2). (495 hits)
Path of Exile 2 - Tips & Tricks - While unlimited orbs and gold are not possible in PoE2 outside of exploits, there are still many possible tools that players can use to make the game easier, survive longer and farm faster or even automatically. (226 hits)
