| I remember the first one, sucked and nobody cared for it. Funny that they would do it again, but not surprising. And I agree, it doesn't look anything special. |

'just another shooter' besides the fact that you'll have hundreds of people on a map at once.. This isn't a game where you fight til your team gets 50 kills, or 15 minutes runs out.. The battle just keeps going, 24/7. You gain and lose bases which gives you benefits on the continent you're fighting on.
Planetside did have its issues, but remember the game came out in 2003..it didn't have Crysis graphics. Most people that say it sucked either didn't actually play it, or played a trial and never got into a good outfit(guild). If you were running with a group of people, you never had issues of finding a fight.
Some of the best memories I've got of gaming are from Planetside. Lets just hope SOE doesn't fuck this one up. |
It failed in 2003 because there were actually still some older and newer shooters that were good on the PC. Why would any logical human being that played shooters pay a monthly fee at that time? Currently the past few years has seen most of the fps titles become nothing more than console retarded ports. All of them are horrible games that are nothing compared to what was put out a decade ago or earlier even.
This game could actually survive today since the PC fps genre is all but dead. I hope to god they limit vehicles as nothing is more annoying than having a fps game turn out to be nothing but a vehicle sim (battlefield 2 and it's ilk).
The graphics look mediocre but who cares about that when the game play and rvr are what really matters here. I hope they don't screw it up. I was in closed beta of the original game and if they can kinda of slightly update that then it should be all good. |

| You're right there were other good games at the time and it was pay to play, I remember now why I didn't play it. I think I had some 30 or 60 day trial or something and honestly, it wasn't that good. God I hate pay to play. |

There's no way they'll limit vehicles in this game. It isn't just a FPS foot zerging shooter. The whole point of this game is you can pretty much find any kind of fight you want. You have to use vehicles to get from base to base..otherwise you just get mowed down by them. You aren't supposed to run from battle to battle on foot. You're supposed to get in a tank, ATV, buggy, mosquito(aircraft), galaxy(massive aircraft), etc. When you get inside a base, then its a FPS..but out in the open world, it is vehicle based. |
Listen my point is I don't want to play a shooter where the whole team fights to get in that jet or jeep or tank just so they can own it up bro. It's freakin stupid that this is what happens in most of these games when the point is to work as a squad or team for objectives or ctf on foot on equal terms. Vehicles don't make things equal they fuck it all up. FPS titles were fun because if you died or sucked it was your fault or your internets fault not because such and such class was overpowered or because they were in a tank and you weren't. Everyone was equal and the determining factor was experience (skill) and latency.
It's obvious by your response that you are part of the problem. You prove my point perfectly. If it's a vehicle sim please label it accordingly so people don't waste their money or time. World of Tanks was fun for a bit but you didn't jump out on foot because that would be a stupid feature. |
