Epic Games, the creators of Gears of War and Unreal
Tournament, have revealed that their websites and forums were hacked,
and that users emails from their forums have been leaked onto the web
(or rather, exposed to the hackers, which usually means they’ve been
leaked). Epic says that password were leaked as well,

lulz that is really believable, I don't suppose 'anonymous' also wanted credit? Has the CEO made claim yet?

| Sony to me was a smart and well orchestrated attack and Sony deserves it as from my view. I feel zero remorse for Sony. I have no intention to buy anything Sony because I think as far as companies go, Sony is a real POS. Raping the PS3 on people and then throwing Digital rights shit into it just totally turned me off. But to attack a game company and not someone like EA itself or Activision is pretty lame. I have nothing against Epic they've never done anything but release decent quality games. They also have one of the best engines on the market. I think these were little kiddie hackers. Nobody like EA, EA is shit and Activision is a close second. Why not attack them? Who cares when I read this really, hope Epic gets things sorted out. |

Except it was against ordinary people in the street....
Tom by all means have an opinion, but don't go saying that there is such a thing as a 'good hacker'.........
There are all wankers and don't just sit in a bedroom going, 'this is for screwing up everyones PS3s' People buy or support software or hardware out of their own choice. When a little shitty wanker gets a hold of PERSONAL DETAILS, it aint no longer ABOUT SONY or any COMPANY!
What part of that don't you understand?? By all means ATTACK a COMPANY -if that's what thrills you, but WHAT THE FUCK ARE THESE SHIT BAGS taking peoples PERSONAL DETAILS FOR????????????????????????
Like give me 5mins with one of them in a small room and i'll explain which part is Sony or Epic etc and which part they fucked up on and ISN'T!
The clue Tom is 77 MILLION CUSTOMERS DETAILS Were STOLEN
Which part of those people are to do with Sony, as in COMPANY EXECS etc, etc, etc ??????????????
I'll tell you, FUCKING NONE!!!!!
This is the same as Epic,Nintendo or anything else out there. They use a companies name to hide behind the fact they are just after BANK DETAILS or personal details.
Personal attack on Sony......................what a fucking gullible lot.
These shits have fingers in other pies too.
Can't believe the inteligence of people...
So they attack Bethesda also and that's ok too....Like STEAL customers details. It doesn't hurt the company, just the friggin' ORDINARY person in the street.
"I'm just away to close our bank account, change all our direct debit payments inform those that wont get paid -because our account was closed and have to wait until then new one is set-up. Oh and i can't use our card at an ATM -because i have to WAIT until new ones are sent out, all because MY HEROES HACKED Sony...."
WRONG! They hacked the ordinary person in the street........Thick as shit!
BTW, i had NO details on Sony's site or any other, but this is the scenario for millions of PARENTS and ORDINARY people that DON'T DESERVE any of this.
You are sooooo wrong, i can't believe that an eductated adult can support them.......
Epic are asking the same too, why did these heroes attack us? Maybe they were they just being friendly...... |

I agree the data stolen is ours not Sony's. It's painful to redo anything these days just because you had your wallet stolen let alone all your personal information.
Stumpus I think Tom was saying that Sony is to blame for allowing it to happen in the first place. I personally think Sony is at fault and should be sued (only way they will learn is to lose money). This is a prime example here of when a certain regulation or law should be passed to require large companies to meet certain standards and have no scapegoat for something like this. |

Baconnaise, i know what is intended but i can hardly sympathise with hackers for 'stealing' private details off of ordinary members of the public -regardless of how secure or insecure a company is.
What -if they were really inteligent or clever- should have done, was steal or hack into Sony's hidden employees, accounts/CEO details etc. and THEN turned the company in on itself. Employees then would renegade as that IS personal and down to the company to protect that data.
Stealing ordinary peoples bank details, personal information; DOB, passwords is just plain immature and above all, it's the ordinary person in the street that has to sort it out -not Sony or ANY company for that matter....
By the way, Sony has provided a years free identity theft cover for members anyway. That's impressive enough, which is more than your bank in the street would do. |

Hm, what if... within the 77million are also very interesting data about sony employees that by themselves have PS3s, or other people of interest... perhaps scumtology pate Tom Cruise is playing PS3 too? What if the criminals had visited some economy-courses and watched to much the world, where "more is better" is a dominantly kind of thinking.
And if you have all data you can search for specific persons, instead of taking the long route and searching within the network by loosing time when you currently do a security breach.
Not a wise choice for an intelligent hacker. So stealing all data seems quite optimized in the big scheme.
Dunno are there some facts about big creditcard or ATM stealings with faked information? Or some 100.000 victims?
Wouldn't be in such flame like you stumpus, you have been hitten by the stealings? You know somebody?
Of course you are right in some points, but not at all I guess. |
