Yep no reason to go blow money on a new video card for this game which is great because my 260gtx will handle it fine. More games I can squeek out of my hardware without putting a penny more into it, the better.

Duke 3d spec comparison..

*486DX2/66 with 8 megabytes of memory and VGA graphics. We STRONGLY recommend a good Pentium with 16Mb of memory and PCI local bus video.
*For the SVGA modes, a VESA compliant video card is required. Please see your video card's manual for info on how to find out if your card is VESA compliant. If yours is not VESA compliant, you will need to use a software driver to provide this compliance. We suggest a driver such as Display Doctor.
*For game play, the following devices are optionally supported: Keyboard, Mouse, Joystick, Gravis Gamepad.
*The following sound cards/devices are optionally supported for music: Gravis UltraSound, Sound Blaster (all of them), SoundMan16, Pro Audio Spectrum, SoundScape, Waveblaster, Sound Canvas, Adlib, and General MIDI.
*The following sound cards/devices are optionally supported for sound effects: Sound Blaster (all of them), Gravis UltraSound, SoundMan16, Pro Audio Spectrum, SoundScape, Disney/Tandy Sound Sources.
*There is no support for the PC Speaker.
*Duke Nukem 3D is a DOS game.

I said it looked dated and the system reqs show that exactly.

I bet it will still be immensely fun anyway!

Dual core on the recommended, shows that multithreading will go yonder though!

A great game doesn't need to support the latest and greatest. This game is made with common sense and applies to everyone who hasn't jumped on everything AMD or nVidia has thrown out. The requirements are right where I figured they would be.

Do you wanna wager how will it play on those recommended specs?

To put it another way, can you quote the needed specs for 1080P+4XAA, everything else maxed?

Their quoted specs make sense to me.

Quoted from another article on another page.

"My 640MB 8800 GTS runs games at 1920x1200 well up to 4xAA and 16xAF depending on the game, I play BF2142, ut2004, Prey, FEAR, Doom3. I get typical fram rates of around 60fps, though BF2142 can slow down to about 45fps if..."

Being that it uses a modified UT engine, I expect it will run just fine.
With a little overclocking probably even better.
Then of course you could always SLI it on ebay for $50.

Also, I still have a BFG 8800 GTS 512MB in my other PC that plays NFS Most Wanted and various other games at 1600x1200+ 4xAA and everything maxxed without issue.
