If you are a user of the Steam PC/Mac game download service,
you really need to read its subscriber agreement, part of which says
that the account user is not allowed to \'sell or charge others for the
right to use your account, or otherwise transfer your account.\' A Steam
account user found that out the hard way,

Anyone that was around when steam rolled out knows its a steaming pile of shit. Remember when the CD key you purchased in the game store meant that you OWN your game? Yeah, well now you must use a service to use your games.

Just out of curiosity, what if she bought HL before steam and was forced to move from the WON network and is now banned... can she sue? She never agreed to this stuff upon initial installation of HL and was FORCED to use the steam store to play the game.

yeah the whole steaming bullshit was forced on users of half life and css.

fucking valve scum and their twisted legal bullshit, they've grown far too big. Yet I see people carry on supporting them for game sales its like supporting a monopoly that takes more than it really gives back, maybe its got stupid tf2 players fooled and retards who think its really cool and convenient having an account of games you download but don't fucking own, while they help abet the corporate and government control freak mentality of do as they say not as they do.

And so I don't buy shit all from Valve anymore, heck barely use the shitting steam spyware service where many of my past games bought are account trapped. Can't be arsed to login, sit through steaming shit updates, get bombarded with fucking ads, games are were good when it was launch and play, maybe a cdkey check in console to play online, this shit has gone to absurdity levels in forcing people to comply with their legal service shit that they forced on everyone, marketing, control and sale gimmicks.

If I buy something I want the right to do with it as a please, preventing reselling is not a fucking right corporations should ever be allowed to have, yet they are because it ultimately it benefits corrupt government scumbags and the corrupt tax man! valve and affiliated companies using the monopoly service just want to everyone to have an account to play the games they bought, heck I'm sure those fucking arseholes would like a webcam to monitor the account is only being played by said owner of account and not a sibling or friend unless they have a license to play said game. Pure insipid greed and the nature of legal scumbags.

Yep I have a lot of games I have finished and they just sit there. I'd like to give them away free to my Dad perhaps or a friend but there is no means to do that and it's pretty stupid. I should be able to backup the game and give it to my Dad. If I can buy a game at the store, play it and then pass it on to someone else why can't I do that with Steam. Oh that's right in Valve's eyes my Dad shouldn't wait for me to finish the game he should go out and buy the game. I've bashed Valve so much on this issue. It's idiotic that you cannot do anything with the library of games you have. As to spyware or updates etc. Your computer must be total shit Koogle. Pfft, updates take 2-3 seconds here to do and Steam has never crashed or bogged down my system. Compared to other distribution channels, speed, quality etc. Steam kicks all their asses. Not to mention as well that they have the most amazing deals sometimes on Steam. The rest of your verbal diarrhea post, conspiracy shit is like beyond boring and not worth a word.

This guy was a MORON for trying to sell his steam account in such a public way. He deserves what he got just for being stupid.

As for loaning your dad a game you only have through steam...um, why not just tell him your Steam password and let him get it himself. He is your DAD you can probably trust him. Just tell him how to set it up to run in offline mode and he will never have to be connected to your Steam account again. Unless of course he's wanting the multi-player (but I kinda doubt that's the case).

Oh, and for the record I agree that they way they control your use of YOUR games is completely screwed up (that's why I was suggesting just loaning your password to your dad). And the loaning the password/account thing is probably a really really bad idea in most cases.

Tom, the only conspiracy around here is that you're not an idjiot.
2-3 seconds update? lol my computer ain't slow heck maybe its faster than yours, and if steam needs to be updated it takes longer than 2-3 seconds, heck it fucking takes longer then 5seconds just for to negotiate username/password (ain't got shit to do with my pc or connection) perhaps its intentional to have stupid people allow steam to startup from pc boot and leave it running, and sitting with steaming pile of shit in the background and that isn't spyware? lol I'd call anything that maintains a direct connection to corporation and monitors your gaming activities fucking spyware, only steam goes further into data mining, with your consent supposedly, but hey who is watching or even paying attention how many even read the twisted legal crap they are coercively forced into accepting at some point.
"Steam has never crashed or bogged down my system." I never said it ever crashed my system, but just because it runs doesn't mean I want it fucking running in the background just to a play game.

"verbal diarrhea" Razz nice to see your originality.

"This guy was a MORON for trying to sell his steam account in such a public way. He deserves what he got just for being stupid. "

No he didn't deserve what he got at all, stop trying to rationalize corporate policy punishment bullshit, valve should be condemned for the shit they're pulling. The person didn't even fucking sell the damn account, valve being the absolute cretinous pieces of shit took it upon themselves to pre-emptively terminate $1600 worth of purchases on a hunch that this person might actually get their account sold. Wow if that ain't out right fucking scumbaggery.. the MORONIC thing is stupid people who actually think that valve is in the right, and side with ever increasing legal stupidity ie beneficial corporate commercial laws, that they themselves are to comply with but only because they are the least likely to be effected like compliant sheep too stupid to realize by their own support of it forces others into having to accepting it aswel because it grows a monopoly that others are forced into using like other game developers... you're not exactly on those lines, but too call that guy a moron is to unsympathetic to same bullshit you'd face had you got caught doing the same, but to you if he went about selling it more sneakily it would be better... like suggesting the loaning out a steam password to a friend/family member to get around the legal scumbaggery, ain't at all hypocritical exactly what a corrupt sick society is allowing in keeping the legal bullshit parasites happy and turning a blind eye to those who fall to its traps. To think that if someone is caught they deserve the punishment because they weren't sneaky enough at getting around the policy bullshit that everyone else does or does not need to. Wake up, it is wrong of a society to even accept such legal crap in the first place, especially without making a scene and rubbing it in faces of scumbags and corporations who support it and get away with the upperhand (underhanded more like) benefit that it provides them.
