| I used to play tribes alot while in college. I don't think we need another MMO. What's wrong with a some multiplayer standalone even with constant map and other updates? Ahh well. |

FPS are pvp focused in MP and they are fine. The problem is MMO and the whole planetside thing isn't a great idea. Why would I pay for planetside when I can buy a game once and play MP and get the same deal? I can't see myself playing an fps constantly for over a year. It migh tbe more off again on again over a year or two but past that any game including MMO's of any stripe are just over for me.
Wow is a good example of weak longevity in my case. Burning Crusade was what killed that game for me with it's multiple rep grinds for just a single recipe or the like. Level cap increase didn't inspire me either as I had multiple capped characters and three accounts. Dark Age of Camelot for example released expansions and new content and systems and even upgrades without a cap raise and we had more classes and races. Burning Crusade had little to no content. Trials of Atlantis killed DAoC for me when they made everything easier and more PVE.
Anyhoo average lifespan for any game (MMO) personally is about one to two years max. FPS would be lucky to keep me playing for over six months consecutively. |
