QUAKE
LIVE is back online after some scheduled maintenance for the
formerly free online shooter. The new juice for the game seems to be
the new pay subscription options (\'Standard\' QUAKE LIVE play remains
free) where you\'ll get more maps, a new mode (Freeze Tag) and more fun

wtf? they are charging for a 10+year old game? you don't even get once great mods like Rocket Arena available that made Q3 awesome multilayer specially 1vs1 mode..
crap really, worst is that the stupid browser hack setup they use doesn't even offer improved options (joke it doesn't really offer anythng game wise improved)
Things like letting you chose which display adapter for the game to start on.. ie for dual screen setup where you don't want to have to switch around primary/secondary.. older games used to offer the option of letting you choose so that you could leave you display settings alone, but still get the game to run on another display adapter.
LCD (primary) want to leave web browser on this screen....
CRT(secondary) best for fps gaming, rather have game launched fullscreen here...
Q3 would be worth playing for quick frag matches, but paying fuck no, its past its time.. they are trying to milk a dead horse without barely doing anything to improve it.... other than chucking out existing mappers maps.
At least with Battlefield Heroes $48 a year to chuck on characters ain't bad, personally I haven't played that game in ages, but you could still play for free and not need to spend a thing. |

| it's still free to play but advantages of paying premium are....idiotic. They took maps from modders and charging them, they haven't included ProMode (OSP) which majority of pro players used, they left their original maps which are unbalanced (q3dm6 for example) and quite frankly, you can buy q3 arena, download 3201515 free maps and mods and play online with 2343 more features then Quake Live Pro offers.... |
