while i like the growth aspect of building up your characters in many adventure rpg's or others mmo's i cant stand how long it takes in in the mmo side of things, so my question is, did the 1st guild wars have any bit of a growth or development of your character in the game or is it just straight out have good stuff and fight other players?

I have guild wars but i have yet to get into, only about 10 mins in and got bored real quick, maybe i should reinstall it to give it another try before the next one comes out.

No, GW is not like others MMO, trust me.
You begin in Ascalon in the past, here you learn your first new skills, meet new players, and complete your first quests working your way through to get past the Char Invasion, where everything changes and the true game begins.
5 years are passed, many great gw expansions sold, GW has changed but it still a great game (the graphics is not so old and it's still beautifull to see) especially for solo player since henchmen (AI bot that help you) often play better than humans Razz
And the "story missions" are simple amazing, i still remember the dwarf fortress defense. =)
Sure is not as popular as like 5 years ago (and maybe some servers are a little more laggy since it has no monthly fee), but it is one of the best game i ever played.

I apo for my eng =)

I enjoyed GW however the incessant grief and bitching from pubescent retards ended the shortlived but entertaining experience. It's a breath of fresh air in comparison to the soul destroying grindfests like Lineage 2.
