Boy am I glad I ditched the Xbox.
I would be upset if I was forced to pay for cool little features like this that the console should be able to do itself. Too many marketing people in gaming these days trying to monetize things. It's a shame.
Not that the games are at all similar, but I've been playing quite a bit of MLB09 and think it's awesome that you can create your own replay videos and save them to the hard disk. The next step is an uploader to youtube/etc which is supposedly in the PS3 SDK and still waiting to be used... why didn't they cook that into the game as well? Oh well, gotta draw the line somewhere I guess.
Perhaps Sony should just let you upload whatever videos (non-protected if they want to be 'safe') to youtube directly from the XMB? People like me who still have cable will be mostly SOL with the 40KB/s upload, but FIOS cats could have some fun with that I'm sure. |
