For those of you who didn\'t buy Spore because of the invasive DRM, it looks like the company that can do no right, EA, has actually listened to your complaints. EA has announced that The Sims 3 will only use serial-number copy protection. Buy the game, input the serial number that comes with the game, and you\'re good

Well, I have to think that the huge majority of people who buy sims games aren't exactly the game torrenting type anyway.

So EA gets to do this and look good for not using DRM when it wouldn't have made much of a difference in sales anyway. I mean sure, some folks might torrent it for their girlfriend (or wife, or kid sister) but I really doubt that's a huge number of sales lost.

The real numbers of folks who would torrent the game if it had DRM will be torrenting the damn thing anyway because it's not the kind of game they'd ever buy.

So this is just another case of EA being the evil genius that they are but this time turning something completely irrelevant into a way to make them look good.

Good grief, I didn't intend to buy this, hell I didn't intend to *cough* "obtain" *cough* it either but I may actually pick it up now.

I guess I have just been conditioned over the years if dealing with EA = customer sore arse.

I wonder how many other crap they will dump in it, so it will at least need a HD4870x2 and i7 to take care of all those anti-piracy bloat in it....
