HD-DVD is officially dead // I hope not

Toshiba and co. are friggin idiots if the format does die

I dunno why they don't just carry on improving the hd-dvd recorder technology and flood the market with cheap hd-dvdr's and higher dual layer capacity discs ASAP.

A lot of people are already seeing online distribution of HD quality video and using it in media centers as an alternative to buying the physical discs.. hd-dvdr as a backup media is better than nothing especially if the price is right Unfortunaly the price hasn't been right, and nor has the quantity and availability of either format really. Which is kinda pathetic overal.

Its not like they still have the film industry directly on there backs anymore as they are the ones who have abandoned the format.. so what do they care if hd-dvdr took off and people took to downloading hd content and backing it up on hd discs.... I would laugh my /\SS off. It would be a good comeback.

and weren't the hd-dvd discs afteral meant to be cheaper to produce/manufacture than blue-ray discs? it could still be there last chance at beating the blue-ray format. And I would rather stay away from any media format with Sony involved.. drm obsessed monkey shits they are, next thing they will have is blue-ray rootkits.

Here is hoping this year finds the best backup media format.
