I would not say "stealing" more like disillusioned due to the regular PC upgrading in order to meet the minimum spec for games like Crysis. Nowadays i am more inclined to go for the console because of resource hungry games and the rapid evolution of pc hardware makes systems become obsolete more rapidly compared to 5 years ago.
Consoles are good because you dont need to constantly upgrade in order to meet game developers specifications, with the bonus of online play. Another issue is which to choose PS3 or XBOX 360 ? well that’s another issue. |

I have to agree with all you say. Have you been a PC builder/upgrader for a few years?
I only ask because i have for nearly 15years. I hate to say it but i too am sick to the back teeth of the redundant hardware cycle of the PC now.
We used to get a few years out of upgrading a motherboard or CPU, now CPU/Graphic cards are *obsolete* never mind supported or discontinued within a year!
Me and my wife bought 2 DSs and a Wii and we've had more fun with family/friends than i've ever had on the PC. Only going back to RTCW or HL1 did i ever have that same level.
Plus of course we nigh on all have large screen HD TVs with everything console-wise plugged into it looking the biz a touch of a button and your playing instantly.
The PC has truly become a cash cow, no doubt for builders.

I want to play games after work, not sit tweaking my system or why Crysis plays like a bag of spanners or crashes through memory leaks.
You can keep that!
I think we're missing the whole point now, what is so obsessive about DX10 to 10.1?? Or about a new range of graphics card that add 10 more fps over the 'older range below it'???
At one time games and gaming were paramount, now it's upgrade, upgrade for few more sparkly effects and a FRAPS sig....... |
