I fail to see why everyone is so critical of the game. In my experience the action is fast paced like Quake, the focused objective gametype keeps a majority of the action in one place and the classes, vehicles and deployables add many levels to the strategy without becoming a central focus of the game.
From what I've seen, people who instantly write off the game have either put in few hours play or went in expecting it to be a new BF game with better graphics. I'd say you'll get a better appreciation for what it offers if you go in with an open mind, expect something that plays different (fast paced strategic team play isn't all that common these days) and probably streatch the experience over several weeks of broken play.
It's certainly not a game that will appeal to everyone but I frankly love it and it's the first game that has peaked my interest in a long time. I have little doubt some of the smaller issues will be addressed in patches, SD are hugely active in the community forums even to the point that Locki admitted they made an error in leaving out VOIP on initial the PC release and that they'd put it on the wishlist for patch inclusion (it's meant to be in testing right now).
If you're an online PC gamer, you really do need to give this game a fair chance and stop looking at it as some Crysis competitor or BF clone.
Edit:
Just watched the review and it's covers the game quite well without delving into the nuances that make the game so much fun to play. I'd certainly agree with a high 80's low 90's score for the game. |
