There is no denying that laptops/note book PCs will take over from the 'beige' desktop in the average home.
There is simply no need and it's a waste of home space for most folk.

But, it was 'us',the PC builder, that pushed the hardware envelope for upgrades way before 3D was invented. Therefore i can't build nor upgrade a laptop for serious gaming.

The day i can build a laptop -out of parts (inc screen & case) that i get delivered to my house- and hardware evolves to a point that it can play games like my desktop. That will be the day i happily 'move'.

Although, like Vista, sometimes choices are made for us whether we like it or not.

Didn't they say the last "flagship" windows to support 32bit CPUs was going to be Vista?

I believe Desktop computers will be redefined, from the typically large and noisy PC Towers to the quiet and portable small 'box' style machines.

Laptops have their use, but unless a new design standard is adopted to allow easy installation of different parts, it will never take over, no matter how hard analysts stare at their beautifully boring bundles of paper.
