Graphics cards retailers are like gas stations, in that they can charge what they want. There’s no use putting prices on a review on display because you’ll never find *that* price.
At one time prices were pretty even, but now it’s like pissing in a barrel and picking one out! |

They can't lower the prices (even if their raw cost is lower) because it will kill the products (previous gen) already on the market.
There is a need for a new, cheap, radically different product that replaces all GPUs so this vicious cycle can start all over again, from a lower price point. |

They’re continually chasing their arses since the covid bomb, like all manufacturers. It’s never going to return to normal either.
No one can go backwards , due to shareholder greed. So like food, electricity you pay tons more for little return.
Nothing starts off low. It’s about making as much as possible in this rotten world and retire tomorrow. |

It was a combination of both.
| Quote: | | GPU prices are always a contentious issue. During the COVID-19 pandemic, GPU prices rose dramatically as production was slashed, shipping was affected, and those forced to stay home bought better gaming and crypto-mining hardware. |

| Quote: | Is Nvidia Set to Cut Its Desktop GPU Output?
According to a Hardware Times report, itself taken from a Chinese news site, Nvidia is planning to cut production of its RTX 4060 and RTX 4070 models by up to 50% compared to initial plans. The chips allocated for desktops would instead go towards laptop GPUs to meet strong demand from gaming notebook manufacturers. If the rumors are true, the reduction in GPU production from the world's leading manufacturer would certainly send prices soaring. |

| Now on some popular models many dealers will add in a dealer mark up. Basically this is pure profit since people will pay extra for the prestige of the vehicle slope unblocked. |
