Not sure why would anyone test and compare CPUs using GPU-intensive apps, lol

The CPU clearly has an impact on frames, so why not test how an otherwise identical-ish PC performs?

AMD seems better to me, consistently draws less power and often provides slightly higher frames. But of course they're comparing to previous gen Intel here.

Depends. If you compare these two to intel's 8700 and ryzen 1700 difference is huge no matter the gpu. Buying a better gpu will make more difference, but it will cost a lot more money.

Even then, you are not testing the CPU.
You are testing the motherboard's ability to feed the GPU with data.
