When it launched back in 2016, the Nvidia 1050 Ti was undoubtedly a very popular graphics card when it came to more budget-focused consumers. Was it a world-beater? Absolutely not. However, it was more than good enough to give a lot of people a very affordable entry-point to the world of PC gaming.

| Seriously: that's how you make money. You exploit the situation, not sulk over it. Companies ain't our friends, they exist to make money, not friends. |

Right. Cryptominers make money, Nvidia make money and gamers (the intended audience) buys AMD cards instead.
Everyone's happy, except Nvidia is making false commitments. |

intended "audience" are nvidia's partners and interested buyers. It's the same on AMD side, their cards are sold out to. Even 5500xt
PS. what false promises nVidia made to gamers? |

| A while back that said they will make sure cryptominers can't suck up all cards on the market. |

well they didn't suck up all the cards. A lot of regular people have them, I know a few.
edit: I doubt that was an official promise. nVidia has no way to control how some 4th hand distributor will sell his wares. Not legally anyway. I bet that whole thing is taken out of context any way. |

| What they did for a while was to limit purchases per customer. |

on their website, for their own founders edition which they make a few % compared to chips they ship and sell to AIB partners, which then put the cards into what we call "channel" for distribution and you get over a 100 people per one AIB at least that are able to pull aside or sell to whomever they want, as long as they pay.
No one in this chain loosed money. They all make money. Miners?! Great, more money to make due to being able to mark up prices higher.
I am totally defending nVidia (not AIBs) here, as I would AMD or anyone else. They design and make chips. over 90% of chips are sold to AIBs, some are kept in hopuse and Founder's edition cards are made and sold on nVidia's website. Did some people use bots to cheat other people? Sure they did. Not nVidia's fault.
And again, we are talking a small % of chips that went into FE cards. Those cards are gone, sold, they wont be making more.
edit: PS. I have done this. I bought a box with 100 cards, I needed 30. I sold the rest (70) to random people. I assume most are miners, but what do I care? |

| I did it that way because I couldn't get 30 cards from one place, or even 5. I had to order a full shipment... |
