If you want to use the power inside of your GPU and CPU at home to help researchers find a cure for COVID-19 / coronavirus, then Folding@Home is where you'll want to go. Folding@Home is a distributed computing project spearheaded by Stanford University, and has been around for what feels like forever. Instead of a sing

| I thought folding at home "people" are still active, and lending their resources for free. Personally I am a capitalist to the bone. Just as are the people that will sell the vaccine (which wont be needed, Corona, like SARS, will be gone in a few months, and I am yet to hear about anyone that went to get SARS vaccine after it was made some 10 months after SARS passed) |

This looks much worse than SARS
Also economically it looks like a disaster already. Well, we will see.

I am from Serbia, we are going to have a disaster in a week. We have no economy to speak of (we make cables and fiat 500L, that's about it). Infected people will:
1. die if they are old, middle aged and sick
2. live if they are children or not old or not middle aged and sick.
3. that's it. After 1 and 2 are done, like SARS, this will pass. It's just a matter of time. This is worse than flu for old people, and less than a flu for younger people.
Dirty people and people that can't control their urges to go to parties, voting, supermarkets and pharmacies to hoard stuff, will get infected whether I Fold at Home or not.
Smart people up their hygiene, stay away from crowds for the time being as much as possible, and don't hoard toilet paper since you know, you can wash your ass like Muslims do. Nothing wrong with that, it's even cleaner.
As you can see (even if we assume they are lying) infection rate is slowing down in China already. And slowing down a lot.
It's not COID fault that Merkel insists on open borders. Orban closed borders and infection in Hungary is in check, unlike Italy where it's still rampart (open borders) and Germany (open borders), and so on.
Using common sense is always more important than using populist politics and SJW way of thinking. Hell, even if your gvnt keeps borders open, doesn't mean you should travel or use public transportation. You can self-isolate for a month until infected people are either cured or dead or in hospitals. Virus doesn't have a good life span outside of the living organisms.
PS.economically, world is way ahead of the time when SARS was a thing. 1. We have a lot more communication going on, hence we know more.
2. There is a lot more trading going on, and a lot more panic on markets now, then there was when SARS was active (I would argue that if this now was SARS and not Corona, results would be the same as they are now)
3. China produces most, adn I am not kidding, MOST of the stuff that people outside of China use for their businesses. So, when China closed of, of course the impact was huge. That's what you get for exploiting cheap labor. It's till worth it. (China controls most resources on the planet. Just look at steel, >80% is owned, produced and controlled by Chinese companies. )
PPS. Your country is doing what needs to be done. Mine should have done that 2 weeks ago, and everyone else. It's a good thing. It forces idiots to stay isolated and others safe from infection that would be unnecessary. If you would to ask around, you would find a lot of people with "I won't get infected, I am strong" mentality (idiots) |

People can be idiots. It's just a flu with a higher mortality rate.
Does everyone get flu?
No.
Only the weak and the careless. |

Sorry, that’s a foolish thing to say. It’s contagious full stop. Meaning everyone will get it if your going to. It doesn’t skip people, like flu. Public transport, buses, trains are all viable places for transmission. The very fact that idiots have bought all hand sanitizer, dried pasta, tins, toilet roll. Means that people cannot disinfect themselves while out and about. Humans, in general, are dirty creatures. Can barely use deodorant, or soap and the things getting on public transport stinking every single day. And that’s them going to work! They cough openly, their breaths stink. If you live in your car going to work, that’s why people see it like it’s a minor thing. By god it isn’t.... |

| well, it's less contagious than flu. It needs more time and better conditions. Every year hundreds of millions get flu in the winter. Corona didn't even get close to that. |

It’s not even started. Plus this isn’t flu. It’s a man made virus that everyone that comes into contact will get. The only , apparently, ones that are pretty resilient to it are children. But they become carriers. Put it this way, flu never shut down plane travel around the world, stopped sports events around the world, closed thousands of businesses, closed colleges, schools, kept 18 million people behind their doors - allowing one out per family every two days. Cleared shop shelves of food, sanitizer, dried food, canned food. How on earth you can say it’s less contagious than flu, is again stupid assumptions. I’m 56 years old, I’ve in all honesty, never had flu. I’ve had mother of all colds. The only thing that floored me was chicken pox. It’s a minority that have had flu, because you can’t get out of bed. People just think they have flu, cause they’re wimps! |

that's because we know flu and what it does and how to fight it. Still, flu kills millions every year, but no one panics over it because people are used to the idea of flu. Flu is actually more dangerous than this is, looking at statistics is enough to tell you that.
Market reactions are artificial and reactionary.
As for the man made virus, well that's unfounded. You can't back or prove that with anything. SARS was also a strain of COVID. There are many strains of COVID.

not every flu is the same and not everyone is affected the same. Some people carry it and just sneeze, "wimps" get hit harder.
You are just in good health with good immune response. Be glad. Don't judge everyone based on your immune system. I had chicken pox as a kid, and I wasn't in bed. The way we deal with it here is your parents take you (as a kid) to another kid that has them so you would get it and build up immunity. I had mine some 30 odd years ago, but that's how I got them and got over them. |

I probably have a good immune system because all my generation ever did was play outside, in all weathers, with friends who had caught just about everything and also, get this, played in back greens that were frequently flooded due to drain pipes and sewerage pipes leaking. Didn't mean a thing to us. We also weren't allowed to watch TV and neither was it on anyway until evening time. Generations today spend too much time using sanitizer and wipes on all surfaces, therefore lowering their children's on immune system to "normal" bacteria. Peanut allergy just didn't exist nor lactose intolerance. We ate dirt, pissed in it to make mud pies and then stuck our tanks and soldiers in it throwing stones at it creating "explosions" like war films.
Anyway, here's interesting Info about the Spanish flu:
the viral infection was no more aggressive than previous influenza strains. Instead, malnourishment, overcrowded medical camps and hospitals, and poor hygiene promoted bacterial superinfection. This superinfection killed most of the victims, typically after a somewhat prolonged death bed. |

| Well the bit about living outside the human body for no longer than a minute is all wrong. Since we can catch it within a couple meters of infected people and from buttons, poles, wood surfaces, tables. The virus lives for several hours on tissues. Neither is the part about vanishing as quick as it appears. This will be around for years as it bounces around the planet. Apparently it’s 6X more infectious than flu per se. There is probably going into millions of people infected by it but officials only document those that need treatment not those that have it but can cope in isolation. The U.K. is predicted to get an 80% infection out of 65 million. One of the worlds biggest airports, Heathrow, is reducing flights by 80 to 85% telling staff (Virgin airlines) to take 8 weeks unpaid leave... yeah it’s huge |

| that's because government is making them do that. (Virgin Airlines related). They don't care if people get infected and/or die. They only care about profits. |
