Starcraft is still HUGE in places like Asia. The players are hailed as heroes in huge events.
The winners win tens of thousands in the smaller tournaments and the world championship has a top prize of $100 000 with another $150 000 divvied among the runners up, and a total of $1 600 000 in prizes for the tournament season.
We're talking 30+ global events, many hundreds of players from 60 nations.
Yeah sure, it's "BS from 1998"... |

Actually, Starcraft 2 was released in 2010 and Starcraft 2: HoTS was released this year, so it's not 1998 bullshit.
Obviously is not as popular as League of Legends, but anyway there are dozens of tournaments with thousands of dollars in prizes, good players get a nice share of those and also get paid by their teams and sponsors. |

Enjoyable match really nicely played, almost makes me want to play SC2, if my for blizzard wasn't so high, never again blizzard.
Still see no reason why anyone is impressed with the female aspect, its guy who is good at SC to me. Nothing new with that, now when there is a real female at SC finals that would be good different. |
