EuroGamer has an interesting quote from id Software\'s John Carmack, talking about his vision for a return to the crazy Cthulhu-inspired version of Quake. Quake began life on PC in 1996. It involved a marine travelling through alternate dimensions to prevent an alien invasion. Quake 2 followed a year later, introducing

A remake of the old Quake games would be awesome.

I've tried playing other old games from the past and couldn't because the graphics and/or gameplay were so horrible by today's standards, but Quake II still looks pretty good and is still fun to play! If you haven't already done so, I recommend getting Quake II and both of the mission packs and play them again as I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I would love to see Quake I & II remade but I hope they use a better engine than Doom III and Quake 4 as there's something about them I don't like very much.

Yeah Quake 2 is my favorite the singleplayer maps and the actual game music was awesome and fitting, unlike most of todays generic game music shit. And multiplayer was brilliant aswel, I still like Quake 3 aswel its at least more fun and memorable than Quake4 ever was multiplayer, maps, mods rocketarena etc.

Never really got the fascination with Quake1, honestly doom1/2 and duke3d were more interesting.

Q4 was one of my favorite games ever.

I'd love to see a Q5 that's for sure. Complete with single player campaign and all.

God i loved Quake et al.
I never will forget getting the huge Quake promo box i got from Electronics Boutique. I knew the manager (which is how i got the Carmagedon promo box too) It was bloody HUGE! It was over 3ft high and about about 2ft wide. I hung it horizontaly on my ceiling -cause there was no room for it anywhere else lol.
Had a search on the net for it and came across it here
Silly price though Laughing

I still play Quake today. It runs well on my netbook and easy to set up as multiplayer. A reboot would be awesome.

When creativity hits a wall, reboot. There's nothing stopping them from continuing the game as it is. Reboot is jack shit really, just a ticket to do the same shit over again in better gfx. So ya, I say whatever.

Can't say I was ever a huge fan of Quake and when Quake 2 came out I found the game boring. There was a lot of other games that were really fun to play like Diablo that took up my time, Total Annihilation was out too and that was great fun, Duke addons/expansions and lots of experimentation, man I played Duke tonnes of times, Hexen 2 I think was out, Shadow Warrior was great, Dark Forces 2 was fun and different, C&C was huge. Even GTA was out and I played that a bunch too and made stuff for it. There was lots of stuff out and coming and like today I don't limit myself to one game. Quake 3 was ok but after that I was pretty done with the quake scene, even quake wars was so-so.
