Haha I love these console/PC handbag bitch fights you guys have. I have been playing consoles and PC's all my life from spectrum,C64 and NES to Win7 PC, 360 and Wii even have Nintendo game and watch and there are big differences between the systems people say the gap is closing but really it isn't. I cannot imagine Sony, Nintendo or Microsoft releasing a gaming system that acts as a PC, its just not what people want yes you can surf the net on them but you can do that on your mobile. What I like about PC games is they are cheaper than there console counterparts, contrary to some peoples beliefs they are not full of cheats (if they where I would never top the table in any round) and yes they look better as well as having keyb and mouse. Of course I could never play a game like FIFA on my PC because it just doesn't feel right and my mates that own FIFA own consoles same goes for the likes of Streetfighter. I do have driving games on the PC but use the 360 controller on them so my advice is embrace both worlds if you can afford it and if not get a console because a decent gaming PC is going to cost you £500-600 (for the rig) but you can get an XBox for £130.

i do agree with you and all you said is imo true. But xbox wasn't always 150 pounds, and you can get a gaming system from "back then" when xbox was released for 150 pounds also so... Smile It is just the way the system works, you pay a part of a console with every game you buy. Giving 150 pounds for xbox just to play one game is stupid, same goes for PC. On PC you get cheaper games but you pay more for hardware (if you choose to have better graphics or what not all the time), for consoles, you pay them once, there are no improvements, they are cheaper but you will pay more for games, indefinitely...
it is always best to have em all ofc if you can afford it. To me it's a moot point that PC costs more compared to consoles since they both offer different options. That FIFA 2013 is not going to look any better on xbox than FIFA 2010 does...it is going to look better on PC if you put 200 pounds in graphics card in 2013 when it comes out...It's a choice, one that consoles do not offer but instead they offer something else.
Different worlds.

TL;DR

However, people should be singing a different song: Why are Consoles looking a lot more like PC as times goes by? Yeah, the platforms are different now, but in 10 years, will you be able to tell the difference?

Consoles already have internet access, keyboards and mice, support multiplayer over the net... PS3 *had* Linux, all platforms are accepting homebrew (to a certain extent), casual gaming, DLC, etc.

And the cost of consoles are getting higher as PCs are getting cheaper. So, I don't think PC is dying. I think Console is becoming a lot more like PC, until one day there will not be a real difference between playing PC and Console.

For now, PC might not be terribly good at games (even though it's my platform of choice), but it isn't only a gaming platform. Few or maybe no one has a console and not a PC. The inverse is true: many people (myself included) have PCs but doesn't have consoles.

Oh, and, Tom, shut up.

The biggest difference and a major one in RTS for example on PC is the mod and community. Sins of a Solar Empire is a great example of this. You can use countless mods to get more enjoyment out of an already decent game. I've spent maybe two years playing skirmish alone in SP with Star Trek, Star Wars, and many other mods for this game. It's not the only one either.

You won't find this on console RTS or any console game for that matter. I mean look at DOTA for Warcraft an old RTS. It's spawned completely new games out of a mod!

Well, I am fairly sure that Tom can play Sins of a solar Empire on PS3 with gamepad and call it good. Of course, AI would be set to idle or "retarded" with "very very very easy" being the toughest setting. You would be able to build only in one system and only two buildings, hangar and mine. You don't need starport or capital ship factory since you control only one capital ship with possibility to be upgraded with smaller ships that act on their own. If this ship is destroyed - game is over. Auto aim is also welcome as in most of console games played with gamepad. Smile

now isn't that just pure fun! :vomit:

PS3 sells like shit? Who said that? Anyhow, time to educate yourself with reality. Seriously, does anyone on this site know what they are talking about?

http://www.1up.com/news/playstation-3-closing-gap-on-xbox

Modding a game means shit if next to nobody plays it. While Sins was a great game on the PC I got bored of it ages ago. Also if a game like UT3 can import PC mods than anything can be modded if the devs give that capability. I have no time or interest in mods.

What a lousy vid. Everyone knows PC gaming is on life support. Million bucks says that vid was made by a chick who's all mad because her and the 15 others playing the same PC games she is are getting bored. LOL!

I'm going to dust off my PC soon for Hexen, that's about all I care about playing on PC and then it's back to my cheat free console games! Woo! Oh yes, and now while I play on console I'll do it lying on my NEW nice leather couch with hidden beer and remote control storage!! Woooo!

Hey TOM, I see you crapped all over this thread....again. Doesn't matter.

It's nice to see you got a new leather chair with beer compartment. You will need a lot of this beer to really enjoy these games. The problem is that you need a lot of alcohol in your blood, to counter the lack of decent framerates, full screen anti aliasing, 1:1 pixel mapping, decent geometry and full color/full res textures. Want some weed with that? Laughing

Watch that liver man...!
