IMHO,
- it is encouraging piracy,
- a paradise for zombie farmers and
- it is good for sites like rapidshare, and other sites that make money from hosting questionable content.
Gamers with the desire to cheat in a single-player game will be forced to use modified executables that do not report home the fact that the user has cheated.
Modified executables will need to be hosted, malicious code can be added by anyone uploading it, viruses can spread and so on...

Customers are being fooled into thinking they're getting a really good deal, but fail to see how they're slowly given up their own rights, and forcing smaller developers into fixed market monopolies. When you really look at what is going on, the agenda is all about creating unified gaming platforms that can take control and consolidate the industry into the hands of a few. EA/Valve/BlizzCraptivision/Microspy/noSy(Sony) who were caught years ago slipping in rootkits on retail cd's.

Piracy is never praised for what its done best, give consumers the freedom to enjoy what they have bought without all the shit they'd otherwise have to put up with. All these scumbags in the industry know how they've benefited from it, but they'll cry to the fucking cows come home about how its hurting them. Personally if piracy stopped tomorrow, all those companies would soon feel a real awakening backslash of people not supporting their crap anymore.

Blizzard has reportedly moved to ban players who cheat in StarCraft 2, even if they've only done so in the singleplayer campaign and matches against the AI, according to CheatHappens
