Chris Taylor, the creator of PC hits Total Annihilation, Supreme Commander and Dungeon Siege, offers an optimistic outlook on the future of the PC:

Gas Powered Games CEO Chris Taylor reckons the phenomenal success of Steam means the PC version of upcoming multiplatform action role-playing game Dungeon Siege III will

OMFG this guy is a fucking retard too. Activision profits are all pc and makes up 70%! Wow, no fucking duh!!! Warcraft is PC!?!?! Oh yes and that definitely comprises all of PC world.. definitely a reason pc ain't dying. This is like a repeat of that moron from iD trying to say PC gaming ain't dying. It's not that PC gaming is dying/dying it's more the cost-entertainment ratio of pc compared to console is nowhere close. Sure you can have fun with a PC gaming at $1-2 grand for a PC but at the same time you can be sure at $400 (flat) you can play a game absolutely hassle free on console. On console, which PC will never have, is cheat free environments. When there are cheats on console they are banned. PC is for PC enthusiasts and PC and I don't care what any big-time pompous ass like Chris says, but for the average person a console will do better than a PC. The amount of exclusives for PC is but minute compared to console. Developers prime #1 platform is and will be for a long time CONSOLE. Get your head out of your ASS Chris. To me you just come off as another rich fuckhead trying to best another fuckhead at iD. And you FAILED.

Well, no surprise here. Everyone has a PC nowadays; no additional investment is needed to play games (as long as the hardware requirements are not sky high).

Mr Taylor's support is very valuable for the PC.

Now if he just didn't tone down SupCom 2 as much, it would be great. Not a bad game at all, but still Sup Com 1 leaves a feeling of Superiority.

In any case they should at least had implemented some "unsafe" options so we could unlock unit number and such.

Also it was a bit small. They will release a new version later and they will require us to buy it again. Not gonna happen.

why is it always pc vs consoles? (and which consoles are we talking about? Console exclusives such as mario cart or super mario, legends of zelda and such crap can't (for me) even compare to bioshock 2, and BS 2 is no fun at all).

some of you have to realize that some people just hate using gamepads to play games. End. LEARNING to game (for fun ffs) with gamepad is a separate skillset that a lot of people don't want to have. Like I once said, to me it is like running with crutches or doing a mountain bike course in wheelchair. It's ok for driving games, but tps&fps...it's a chore rather than fun for many. So for me, that 400$ console would be just 400$ wasted.

A bit off-topic, but I have the same feeling. On top of that, the sequel was very short...

I like the second one, though it's not entirely impossible to play FPS games on consoles. Your aim is as good as when you're trying to shoot a sparrow with a cannon.

Too bad that is not the case though. Upgrades for gaming are needed every 6months to a year. If you want the best looking game experience. Just because people have a PC does not mean they can game.

First off anyone's support of PC is valuable because without blind idiots like Chris you would have zero for PC except valueware. Which is where it's all going anyhow. All Chris did was read the iD guys bs about PC not dying (saw him getting flamed everywhere and came to his defence) and elaborated on it. Ya he's as valuable to PC as is the crap clinging to my ass hair! Hahahaha! SupCom sucked, both of them so did the Dungeon Seige's he did. And what happened to his lame video's Kings and Castles or whatever that stupid shit was called.. I guess when you can't make games start making retarded videos.. Rolling Eyes

Dude, since you are clearly not following the PC gaming market, why on earth are you commenting on things you don't know anything about?

Yes a well upgraded PC will give you best results, but that sure as hell does not mean that the PC of yesteryear (which is now a very cheap machine) cannot provide decent gaming experience.

Here are some videos I have made on my small gaming rig. It features a C2D E6600 and a 4850 512MB. The whole system does not cost more than 300$ now.

YouTube - SINGULARITY 1920x1080 ATI 4850 @750MHz E6600 @3.0GHz

YouTube - RACE DRIVER GRID 1920x1080 4XAA ATI 4850 @750MHz E6600 @3.0GHz

YouTube - DIRT 2 BENCHMARK 1920x1080 ATI 4850 @750MHz E6600 @3.0GHz

YouTube - BAD COMPANY 2 1920x1080 ATI 4850 @750MHz E6600 @3.0GHz

YouTube - FEAR 2 1920x1080 4XAA ATI 4850 @750MHz E6600 @3.0GHz

YouTube - CALL OF DUTY WORLD AT WAR 1920x1080 ATI 4850 @750MHz E6600 @3.0GHz

YouTube - CALL OF DUTY IV 1920x1080 4XAA ATI 4850 @750MHz E6600 @3.0GHz

YouTube - LOST PLANET 2 BENCHMARK DX9 1920x1080 ATI 4850 @750MHz E6600 @3.0GHz

YouTube - SUPREME COMMANDER 2 1920x1080 ATI 4850 @750MHz E6600 @3.0GHz

YouTube - MAFIA 2 BENCHMARK 1920x1080 NOAA ATI 4850 @750MHz E6600 @3.0GHz

YouTube - KANE AND LYNCH 2 DOG DAYS 1920x1080 4XAA ATI 4850 @750MHz E6600 @3.0GHz

As you can see, it runs perfectly fine, with framerates far above what the fucktard consoles can do. And at superb 1:1 pixel mapped 1080P, unlike the 720P blurred fuckfest you usually see on a console.

So pleaaaase, stop arguing against the PC because your points are always moot, regarding this subject.

==============

As for Chris Taylors support, of course it is needed man. As is everyones on any platform.

to game in 30fps (which is what is 90% of console titles limited to) you really don't need more than 300-400$.

my rig:

c2d e8200@4ghz - ~90$
dfi lanparty p45 t2rs turbo - 90$
2x2gb ram ddr2 800 @1000mhz - ~50$
ati 5850 ~240$
case(chieftec)+psu (brand 750W)+keyboard+mice (logitech) ~150$ (but it's a choice, I have logitec wave set you can save 50$ on that)
hdd 1tb - ~80$

screen is a matter of choice. You can hook up 42" LCDTV if you want.

so all in all, you can have a VERY decent gaming machine under 800$, and not for gaming only. Get a 4890 instead of 5850 and shave off a 100 or more $...

psolord,

You are so full of shit. $300 for that, my ass. Try more like $500+ once you add memory motherboard, screen, hard drive, case, psu, dvd, keyboard and mouse. LCD will cost you $100 easy for the cheapest piece of shit. And then your fps in the games was 30-40fps and it was choppy and tearing. Mafia was a tearing festival of crap! Give it a rest! Don't fucking waste my time with your bs. Not following gaming market. You are fucking clueless bud and don't assume you know fuck all about me and gaming, cuz you don't know shit.

And gx-x don't tell me this BS about hooking up your TV, next to nobody does that anyhow. I do have to say $800 is more reasonable, at least better than psolords bs. But even then it would be a piece of shit you have to upgrade down the road. Anyone who has a brain on their shoulder and wants to save money gaming today with the latest titles will likely buy a console for $400 period. And like I said, with no fucking lame ass cheaters.

Yes, everyone has a PC but if you are going to game on PC you want to do it at good quality with no hiccups. You aren't gonna do that with a shit pc. People have PC's to cruise net, blah blah on Facebook and look at porn and read their emails and play Farmville garbage... that's what the home PC is for a lot of people.

c2d e8200@4ghz - ~90$ (whatever man.. at least $180 - $200 for that)
dfi lanparty p45 t2rs turbo - 90$
2x2gb ram ddr2 800 @1000mhz - ~50$ (Ya right $50.. try ~$90)
ati 5850 ~240$ (ya sure, barely.. though i'd like to see where you get it for $240... try more like $280+ then add taxes)
case(chieftec)+psu (brand 750W)+keyboard+mice (logitech) ~150$ (but it's a choice, I have logitec wave set you can save 50$ on that) (again for a piece of shit combination, sure)
hdd 1tb - ~80$ (Ya for a total piece of shit, like a WD green drive)

Learn how to add buddy... you are talking around $750~1000 for that and that's because i got rid of your BS pricing on the ram at $50. F U, 4 GB or ram is at the least 85-90 on some of the best online shops...Now add taxes to all of that.. we are talking nearly 1 grand...But please back your prices up with some actual links to online stores selling for those prices.. you wont cuz you know you are full of shit.

Maybe a lot of morons come to this site and that's what you two bank on but for anyone with a brain on their shoulders know you two are talking complete bs.

Hey little Tom fucktard, Mafia 2 is tearing because I use vsync off in all videos. These are performance videos. If you don't want tearing you can turn vsync on. You know what vsync is, right?

30-40fps in very heavy games like, Bad Company 2, Lost Planet 2, Mafia 2. Still the graphics quality is leaps and bounds ahead from the crappy consoles. Anyway, I used maxed settings for these games, for comparison reasons. If you tone down the settings a bit, you can jump to 60fps, still with 1080P and better quality than any current console.

You seem to conveniently turn a blind eye to the 60+ fps of Grid, Dirt 2, Singularity, Fear 2, COD4. Nice downplay there.

This my 4850s unboxing video. The one I used in that rig. It cost 50 euros. I bet you can find better deals in larger markets.

HAHAHAHA! With half the HDD to boot!

And no I don't include a monitor. Consoles don't have monitors either. Please don't tell me these fucktard excuses you usually use, like PCs need monitors while consoles don't. I use a HDTV with my PC.

As for the OS, yeah right....! Twisted Evil

Now WHO's full of shit, shitbrain?

psolord,
nowadays you can buy cheap and very well performing ITX boards (I have two Zotax boards here based on nVidia 9300; it's just great stuff) and tiny HTPC cases to go with them (as long as your graphic card fits). So, you won't need that clumsy ATX case. Your box would be smaller than most consoles...

BTW: Why do you argue with Tom? He's made his decision and does not listen to anyone. Yes, he's a bit stubborn about it, but so are we. Console guys brag about consoles, PC guys brag about consoles, but in the end it's your gaming needs and style that decide which one suits you better. A few hundred years ago everyone believed that Earth was flat. For a moment, try to imagine how Galileo felt. Tom believes in consoles, so no matter what you say, it will be console for him. So, let him be a console guy.
