| yes this is silly when they don't take into account potential max stable overclocking speed on even stock coolers. |

nah, I was acting silly, ofc they compare default only, it's the only way to go, OC users make up like 1-2% of customers so I can understand them. But none the less, fact stays, c2d's are beasts |

| My old quadcore that my wife uses now is running at over 4ghz. Can't tell much of a difference anymore unless I use a computer without a solid state drive. |

| Well, it's the same as replacing with any other drive, just make sure you have enough space on your new SSD |

I've been using an SSD since last August. The windows boot up speed is amazing and heavy programs like photoshop just pop open in a few seconds at most. I also tried Mass Effect on it and there was not a huge improvement in load times as far as I could tell. However the benefits in general windows usage are immense. I recommend it to anyone. I might actually buy a 120gb soon, as the 60gb is just a bit too easy to fill up - even with just a few programs installed.
Edit: If you are looking to buy one now then make sure you look for 'sandforce' based controllers. There are big improvements to write speed especially. |

| it's simple really, SSD are good for small files, lots and lots of small files, for large files regular HDDs are better, since they are faster and large files don't depend on access time where SSDs shine. |

| Well if games were still under a gig or two you could use a ram drive. |

technically you can use a server based motherboard that can allocate and support 32+ gigs of ram, or let's say skull trail from intel and pack 12gig game into RAM |

| Intel SSD 80GB here, kicks the shit out of most SSD on the market. I run my Win7 64bit and applications off it and all my games etc are all on Raid config running off my Hitachi's. All this with 16GB ram. SSD is awesome and it's great in my netbook too which I am playing Kings Quest Silver Lining.. Hehe. |
