PC.IGN has posted an interesting interview with a number of Rockstar employees, including Lead QA Arthur Chiang, Technical Director Kevin Hoare, and VP of Development Jeronimo Barrer, as they talk about
Grand Theft Auto IV PC Bugs:
IGN: Can you talk about what you\'re working on right now, like a patch?

WTF? The game looks like crap out of an scotish toilet and this is your concern?
| ggrobot wrote: | | Let's not beat around the bush here. There's a lot of noise like this game doesn't run at all or there's missing textures and everything else. From what we've gathered a lot of those problems are either out of date drivers or we don't support that type of card or you're underspecced or whatever, it's always a combination of one of those things, it's not necessarily that we don't know what we're doing because obviously we put in hundreds and hundreds of hours of test into this. From what we did and from going through certification with Microsoft and our external QA process we didn't run into the amount of problems that the boards seemed to be saying there are. I know that Nvidia and ATI are constantly...I think they're releasing new drivers pretty soon. |
I' think we are not talking about the same game here... is the GTA IV the title your comments are?
Cuase i follow every single freaking step, rule, update (tons of them) to get the game going wel and... it looks like sh*t!!! Even the posible lowest setting is unplayable and in the most extreme settings... o... sorry... you restrict us from bench that... WTH?!?! PC's can use Sytem Memory to adresses the textures that not fits in the VRAM, Assholes!!! Why the f*ck i have 4 gigs of DDR3!! We don't have a memory restricition like the consoles!
And that idiotic excuse of "It's prepared for the Future hardware" is so lame. Just cause your patetic engine could not adresses the memory well.
The PC resources are not improved for anything in the world. I'have 3 of my 4 cores running almost 100% percent and the other always almost idle, my system memory less than 60% in use and the GPU load is about 65%
And also we have to tolerate the Rockstar Social Club, Games For Windows Live! and that estupid DRM Securrom that has been totally cracked in less than 10 hours.
Total disaster!
All of you are the dumbiest devs ever.
Sorry for my english, i'm from Argentina. |

Isn't that a contradiction in terms!
Should be sorry for dissing scotland, i personaly don't go annalysing what the difference between English shit and Scottish shit looks like -you look like you do
Anyway, away and buy a PS3 or XBox if you want a bug free game of GTA4. The devs on PC can't code to save themselves these days (although neither can Lionhead on the XBox LOL!) I remember when this came out on console and there wasn't a rumour that this was even coming out on PC, it looks like it was an after thought and a last minute decision.
Oh and renton was great in Trainspotting |

This game is great. I certainly don't share any of your negativity in this thread towards Rockstar or this game. I have about 20 some hours in it and it's been nothing but enjoyable. The game has frozen on me twice but I hit power and shutdown and I'm playing within 2mins again. No biggie! I agree with most everything they've said and got the new nvidia drivers and so far no more crashes.
Rockstar has always been a great provider and they showed me they still care about PC with this release. This is a big game so I expect more than 1 patch. Hell, I give the game so far a 9/10 at this point(if I was a reviewer). And this is by no means exaggeration. It's much better than I expected and I've played all previous ones! With mods and the online side of it all, this game is gonna be a hoot!
I'm glad I didn't take your comments into consideration when I bought this. I could have ended up passing up on a good game. For shame!! |
