I think Turtle Rock studios did most of the work on this MOD! and it shows..badly Turtle Rock Studios where responsible for this dooozy of game... Counter-Strike: Condition Zero

First thing I rememberd about that game was the weapons sucking in that .. much like the assualt rifle, pistols and uzi suck in L4D

nothing like the modern weapons in COD4 that actually have a bit of detail in the modelling, texturing and gun sound fx.

tbh I played the demo and wasn't that impressed.. not that I didn't like it outright, but it left me with many doubts.... that and my increasing for using that steam-ing shit platform.. just puts me off buying games on that junk these days..And considering i've bought all of Valves homebrew games in the past, but even nowadays I'm put off playing even the popular multiplayer ones like TF2 and CSS just because of that steaming slow shit service that you have to go through and startup(get spammed with ads) before you can even get into a game. Pretty much why I prefere games like COD4 much faster at just getting straight into a game for some action, leave the cdkey checking to when i'm joining the server not all this extra shit service bullshit to have running in the background.

Still I have managed to play the full L4D game thanks to steam account sharing Really I'm glad I didn't bother pre-ordering it now.. it was all hype... Valve seriously trying to flog an aging source engine.. tbh I think even the FEAR engine would have been better(quite frankly even the original FEAR game was more scarrier too lol.. playing solo in L4D would have been a good challange(if they could have balanced it)and added more sandbox type defending etc fucking trip mine pickups ) And I just can't believe how lame they were in not providing at some engine improvements.. I mean since when do you throw a molotov cocktail and not having the flames light the surrounding the area .. even 1 basic dynamic light without shadow casting would have looked better than just some animated flames surrounded by pitch black lol -tis pathetic .. I could have accepted that from a free mod..not from a game coming from valve in 2008. This was on HIGH details

The Director AI with the (zombie crowd simulation ) yeh that wasn't bad, but way overhyped, specially when coupled with some bad level design and its spawning hordes of zombies seemigly from a room with no other entry points, or worse a closet.. it wasn't bad in outdoors areas, and certainly works well to provide a challenge when you least want a rush of zombies coming, thats fun actually.. I think most complaints could come from the lack of variety of zombies or lack of boss characters.

-lack of variety in weapon models, gun soundfx -lame.. only weapons I had fun with were the sniper rifle(no scoped head shots- easy but fun) and shotgun.. the pistols even dual, start to just suck after a while, would be nice to have seen other types of weapon pickups.. and ffs trip mines

- multiplayer seems to have gone the route of console-tardization!, what with its shit match making, and providing little reason for dedicated server hosters to even bother supporting this crap multiplayer game.. I dunno how fucking stupid Valve are that they'd remove default access to tried and trusted multiplayer mechanics like accessing a server browser(yes you can still get to with with some console command).. but this is the basic shit PC gamers expect from FPS games, we don't need crap console match making.. thats the flaming shit they pass onto console noobs. Could have also used some better beta testers and made the multiplayers modes better, higher player limit.. ie bigger maps to allow more players and multiplayer adjustments to allow for that, ie better balancing and most of all less level bugs.

And finally.. why the fuck release a game without providing the mapping tools.. specially when they provided sooo little maps! in the first palce...when you consider the singleplayer maps are the multiplayer ones.. and that you can easily rush through the entire campaigns in an evening of gaming.. most singleplayer games with an actual bloody tied together storyline offer a bit more playtime than that! Instead L4D is some sort of stringed together collection of maps where each campaign has fuck all relation to the previous.. its just a bit weak consdiering all the other downsides to this game tbh

The levels in the game are all good, its just a shame there ain't more.
So this game is gonna be nothing without good mappers getting involved in providing more quality levels to the community.. I seriously hope Valve get some updates for game and the proper official mapping sdk tools and quickstart tutorials out to encourage anyone interested.

L4D is awesome! Just plain awesome! Valve has done it again. The graphics are mediocre indeed, but what the hell, it's the fast paced gameplay that matters!
