Not to surprised by the Q6600 vs E6850 results. As a Quadcore has the obvious upper hand with the 2 other cores. The one thing I do wonder is the temperature on both. As I would much prefer cooler temps over a higher overclock (As I would imagine 4 cores would bring to the table).  |

| Great deep dive on these classic chips and the new cooler! That discussion about the pure copper base plate and heat pipes is spot on for efficient heat transfer. It reminds me of some high-end audio and aerospace work where they use Beryllium Copper Wire, BeCu for its unique combination of strength, conductivity, and non-magnetic properties. Makes you appreciate the material science behind performance parts. For a retro build, I'd probably lean toward the Q6600 for the quad-core potential. |
