| Hurray... want it bad, hope this will not turn out to a patch after patch game. Pisses me off when i bye a game, i complete it, and a huge patch turn up, fixing and tweaking the game.(and i "need" to complete it one more time becouse of a lot has changed, and maybe more playable) Dont get me wrong, but in my opinion a game should 99% complete, when it comes to bugs/tweak. |

A game is never 99% complete when it comes to bugs/tweaks these days anyways.
They have been concentrating mainly on the Single Player portion of the game, so that 'should' be bug-free, but I doubt they'll release any significant patch that will force you to play through the entire thing again.
I bet they'll do one of those "let's release a patch on the day of release" things, seeing as that seems to be happening with every new game as of late. |

| If there is a patch as soon as it gets out fine. I have never replayed a game cuz they released a patch after i finished it. I don't think I ever played a game other than NWN2 where I had to go back to the start. In NWN2 it just so happened that what I was doing was hitting a bug with quicksave. Bugs or no bugs i'm getting this game anyhow if not just for single player. Just not impressed with the MP at all. If I wanted to play with campers I'd just save my money and stick with CS. But now I'd be degrading CS because really, compared to STALKER, there aren't half as many campers in CS. IMO. If the devs for STALKER incorporate some smarts into the anomolies to force campers out into the open, great, but I really doubt we are gonna see that. |

I think if the public outcry is big enough when the game is released, the dev's will probably put a lot of effort in to making things work the way people want, but seeing as the game will be pretty moddable, you may just as well see the community put in similar elements themselves.
I totally agree about CS, that game has really set the standard over the years and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. really needs to take some inspiration from it.
Most people involved with the whole post-apoc themed games always seem to be quite fanatical about what they play, so if the SDK comes out for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. we should start seeing some pretty cool things coming out. |

At last those sweet words "gone gold" have been said about STALKER! I still can't believe it.
As for multiplayer I guess it'll be popular and quite fun to play. As for campers: at least the maps are designed so that there are more than one way to get to any place in the map, so the campers aren't completely safe. |

Take your worst game of CS with lots of campers, multiply that by 4 and you have STALKER. I'm afraid after hours and hours of playing, despite the fact there are multiple ways to get places, there are still way too many places to hide. Have you even tried the beta or are you talking without knowing?
I think if the sound was a notch better in the game we'd maybe have more awareness of whats around us. For example, you can hear your footsteps but you can't hear anyone else's. You can't even hear someone reload their gun.
Yes I have an Xfi Xtrememusic and sound settings are all maxxed just like in any other game. |

When most people think of camping, there are usually two mindsets, certainly in a DM environment, you'd want less camping and more frags.
It'll always be the newbs that take camping and put it into a box of 'the most annoying things in the universe'... but in a good match, camping can be effective depending on what odds you're up against.
There is usually always some degree of movement and accurate shooting going on for most of the pro's that play, unless they are just lazy b!"£$%^& that are eating lunch at the same time; but definately in the case of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. map designs, camping is literally part of the game.
It's really a case of having less cluttered maps specifically designed to minimalize camping, unless they utilize the unique features such as 'anomalies' and 'radiation' to coax people out.
Nosferatu is quite right in the multiple route approach though, it has worked quite a lot of the time for me to eliminate the occasional camper, and as soon as you memorize the map, you can usually take cover and work out where a person is fairly quickly. Paying attention to the shot indicator is the best way to pin-point someone.
xxxx, with what you mention, it is very true that the smaller sound details aren't properly balanced. The actual movement and weapon ambience can be very confusing at times. |

first of all... (props to http://www.redvsblue.com for the "quote" and that t-shirt design)
Second of all, there are different kinds of camping. I'll use Counter-Strike as the model here.
Objective Camping: Why would a Terrorist leave the hostages alone, unattended inside the building to pursue the Counter-Terrorists outside, who may find a back way into the building while they're looking at an empty front yard wondering if they killed everybody.
On that same note, if the Counter-Terrorists knew that the Terrorists were planning to bomb a bunch of crates, would they run away from the bombsite? or try to protect it?
Objective camping is acceptable and practical.
Spawn Camping: When a person, from either team, remains at the starting point for too long into the match, thus delaying the end of the match.
Corpse Camping: Not particularly seen in CS considering the "one life per round" rule. This is annoying to the "corpse" because they can not retrieve lost gear nor move on with their game.
Bomb Camping: Annoying, yes. But if a CT KNOWS where the bomb is, why would they leave it unattended for the other guys to come in and plant it? This is an acceptable but pretentious and a-hole manuver.
And lastly, camping when you have an objective to complete is NEVER acceptable.
and if you disagree, that's okay because i don't care. I'm just that nice.
