I curently have a 9800Pro, and I don't plan to upgrade 'till october. Doom3 and Half Life 2 will work OK with this card, no need to throw $600 out of the window for just 2 games, when the same card is going to cost $300 in 3 months.
In october, I will probably buy a 6800 GT, but you never know what's going to happen untill then.
The best price/performance ratio card today is the 9800Pro or the 9800XT
(hx, have you upgraded yet ?) |

| you can get by alright with the X800 pro, but i would wait 2-3 months if i were you. Of course, if time is an issue, and you must buy now, you must choose between X800 Pro, X800 XT, and Geforce 6800 GT or Ultra. |

I just recently upgraded my ram, proc, and vid card (and a new hd). I wasnt sure what vid card to get because I'm not a big fan of spending >$200.00 on a single piece of hardware. I found my perfect match. The msi r9800pro from newegg. Its only 197.00. Should play doom3 and hl2 w/o a problem. Also it uses the 9800xt core (r360) instead of the r350. I'm not a big overclocker but I've been reading alot about people oc'ing this to xt speeds w/o a hitch (at alot less $$ than the xt). Anyways I'm happy w/ my decision. Heres a review on the card: http://www.overclockers.co.nz/ocnz/review.php?id=04vga00r9800promsi00000r9800pro0105
and if you want to purchase here is the newegg link : http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-127-127&depa=1 |
