Here are a couple of Crysis screenshots in case you hadn't seen them yet. In related news,

The Inquirer got talking with Cevat Yerli at CES 2007. They asked a few questions which provided a little bit of new info. Nothing major but definitely interesting:

This lad told us that Crysis, the highly-antic

Read that statement ok?

it looks great on a G80, Geforce 8800 GTX, Core 2 duo and it provides 60 FPS+, at almost all times

8800 and average of 60fps MOST times.. Gimme a break.

Every new news clip I read on this game the more it convinces me to not waste my time or care about this title at all. After all, as many say, gfx don't make a game, however for Crytek it's obviously their goal to put out games where current hardware cannot handle it. I guess as stupid as Crytek is after the demise of Farcry they again expect people to go out and spend hundreds of dollar to play "a" game... Honestly, they are the most stupidist F_ckers I know. Was it really important to have a DX10 game? I don't think so, hardly anyone else has inclination to do the same. Did Farcry do so well? Well unlike some idiots that will say yes, to me Farcry was a total loss. I know cuz I see the online play. It's dismal at best and always was.

And my my quote above there, I was trying to highlight the fact, you highlighted the wrong words. The MORE important words were at almost all times which means this game likely drops FPS like hell and then how many players were on the screen? How much action going on. Ironically left out of the article...All this is is marketing fluff for the naive and the idiots who will go out and blow $600+ on a 8800 card for 1 game.

I think it's time to create some nice flame threads on their site. I got nothing better to do, so maybe I'll give a moderator some action tonite! Muahahahahahha! Crytek I think is my most hated game developer now. They me. But at least Gabe is safe for now....until he puts out that crock of shit Episode 2 and tries to push other lousy titles with it.

Let me get this straight xxxx Razz
You care little about the 8800 in general but you'd still waste hours on a forum to flame a technically next gen game?
60+ FPS at most times with what detail setting? with AA enabled? AF? 90,000 miles away detail distance enabled?

Meh, I'll wait until I can buy it before passing judgment, or until a BETA or ALPHA comes my way... or a demo for that matter.

Why do you keep saying "1 game" as if crysis will be the only dx10 game ever made? It just happens to be the first that'll be worth buying, if not the first all together. You can wait till 5-10 dx10 games are released and then jump on the bandwagon. By then crysis will be in the bargain bin like you say, and the hardware will cost a lot less.

Crysis is still technically pre-alpha which usually means they haven't made any optimizations yet, so I wouldn't start freaking out about the requirements. The game prolly won't be released for a year anyhow.

They aren't only focusing on graphics. They might even be doing a little AI and physics work too, just maybe though. Rolling Eyes Though I will admit the vehicle damage physics looks dumb, the building destruction looks pretty nice.

I'd like to know what it takes for you to get excited about a game... It seems like it's not possible. Does it have to be for a system you already own? Run faster than games you already have? Beat your expectations based on those games? etc. You're just too hard to please. But so am I... I haven't been impressed by a game since HL2 came out. I've still had some fun playing them though.

If there weren't companies like crytek, ID, Epic, etc. pushing the envelope graphically and otherwise, where would we be?

I can understand how you might be done with the whole pc gaming scene and are sick of over-priced graphics hardware. I'm a little sick of it myself. But there are some of us who still like the idea of games becoming life-like simulations; and if the only way to get there is by developers pushing the envelope and causing users to pay more money for upgrades more often than so be it. Progress is expensive.

I don't want to be playing DX9-class games the rest of my life. For those people there are companies like Nintendo which focus on "game play".

I was being sarcastic and typing within a 60sec span. I'll save my ammo for here. Laughing I don't have the time or the slightest interest in this game. I'm dying for STALKER and some CS mods to get better. Games I 'can' play today, tomorrow and still into the future and play with some pretty damn nice gfx and physics. Crysis looks good, but it's not realistic in terms of requirements. If and when I upgrade I'll look for it in the bargain bin, like I did with Farcry. Cool

HW is evolving faster then the software, thats a shame. And Gfx card are expensive, on thing a saw at a store was that one gfx-card cost as much as one whole pc(with screen and everything), now thats crasy. But i love eyecandy and the prettyer the gfx the better, but of course at what prize. But i has been a while sice the gfx in games has been updated, and i think it needs it, becouse the Playstation3 and the 360 looks so much better. Ill love to have a 8800 but i have a ton of other bills... Sad

It's a joke, but when you got idiots going out and buying these cards at stupid prices it just continues to demote any possibility of PC getting better. 8800 is the first BETA product of DX10. There will be at least 3-4 more cards coming this year. As nVidia and ATI strategy goes, the cost of the 8800 will drop dramatically as they introduce new cards. This isn't supply and demand, it's pure price fixing/gouging. They've been doing it ever since 3dfx(rest their souls) went under. It's only NOW the DOJ has even given a crap. Maybe, though I really doubt it, the DOJ will slam down on nVidia and ATI and they will be forced to lower their profit margins and we'll see fair and reasonable prices.
