darknothing, meet a a successor to Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis - THE best military combat simulator to date. Comparing it to BF2 is like preseting magnisum instead of gold before a jewler.

Even deeper goes the irony as OFP was created and flurished way before BF2. Smile

I never liked OFP thought it was a total bore, especially online. There isn't a chance in hell I'm buying this crap. I'm so sick of these military crap shoots. You might say OFP owns BF, fine, but ya know what? Community numbers say differently. OFP was a snore fest that I also stopped playing after a week. People I knew who tried to get into it also found it a total bore...

Codemasters sucks too, almost as bad as EA.

You can't really compare them. BF2 is arcade shooter and mainly multiplayer, OFP si combat simulator and mainly singleplayer. If you want to compare BF2 with something it's enemy territory or quake wars. OFP compares to simulators like LOMAC or silent hunter. If you don't like spending hours (literaly) crawling through night forrest, avoiding enemy patrols and APCs, then you won't like OFP or armed assault, thats for sure Smile

Correct, like Crysis, I hate games that promote camping. I personally have never had interest in crawling in bushes for hours or sitting and waiting. I like typically fast moving shooters.

I loved running like a freakin maniac from a tank down into the high grass near a lake, hearin how the tracked monster is tearing up the ground as it is pushing down the slope to aim at me. The aldrenalin was pumping more and more. Great times.

And the covert ops missions - *brr* so fun, but as all of you said - it took a good amount of time to get through them. Carefull planing, carefull moves - like a form of chess.

Arcade shooters... yeah - I can see what you are aiming at but you can't dismiss that they are still trying at a "realistic combat simulator" gameplay style but fails in trying to fusion this with simple "join into the frag fest" tendency. It just outright falls flat.

That's why I loved BF1942, this first installment was a simple, "you aim at a target and the bullet flies straight at it" gameplay, you didn't outright die when you slid down a rock - not much anyway. It felt more balanced in that manner as it didn't strive for more then it could be.

Pity thought... I blame EA... Wink

Well it's not crap, That's just YOU! OFP requires tactics and thought -not just run around like a 9year old shooting anything that moves...you speak like a bored console punk.

Oh and as regards community? Don't make me laugh! OFP had/has one of the largest ever communities out there at it's peak -5+ years ago and it's still going strong. It sold 1 million units alone, which is quite a bit more than BF has i can bet. Ever wondered why? Easy, OFP shipped with the most piss easy editor out there and the best AI (unlike the shit that is BF) the best support and developers that LISTENED. EA listen? yeah they may as well be stone DEAF.

Oh and your soooo much out the picture, Codemasters own the NAME OFP not the forth coming 'Allied Assault'
