I think a kill switch is rather meaningless, it's more of a symbolic thing.
By the time humies realize what's going on and make a decision to flip the switch, the damage will have been done.
Look at the forest fires - can you stop those? If the conditions are right, we can't even mitigate them. Give that a thought.
