‘Coming Sir!’ ‘It hurts’. How can you forget those lines. Still have the CD-ROM case. Burying in the snow to the side of a patrol to pop out behind them.
The floating sniper crosshairs was evolutionary along with multi split screen.
The two most significant games for me after Commandos, were ‘Soldiers Heroes of WW2’ and the classy ‘Hidden and Dangerous#’ taking control of individual soldiers in fp and placing them covering doors, routes and putting them on a ‘hold fire’ suppressed weapons and even leaving them on guard (even watch towers) as you went in a building.
Now we’ve all done it in OFP, SWAT#
Glad I was around and enjoyed the birth of these classics -which you can still get on GoG btw. |
