Sony has announced significant price increases for the PS5 lineup and PlayStation Portal, effective April 2, 2026, citing ongoing global economic pressures including RAM shortages driven by AI demand. In the US, the standard PS5 disc edition will rise to $649.99, the digital edition to $599.99, the PS5 Pro to $899.99,

PS4/PS5 Price comparison history:

PS4:
- 2013 launch: 399
- 2015: drops to 349
- 2016: slim is 299

PS5:
- 2020 launch: 499
- 2022 Europe: 549 & 2025 US: 549
- 2026: 649
