Every time I look at a a headline about VR -this- I go look at the VR ‘catalogue’ and then shake my head and go look for any in my seriously varied Plethora of titles that I own on steam, GoG ,UBI,Origin and Epic and then realise that these are shallow people that have more money than sense.
Most of the games they play are modded VR and not even out the box.
All those years go by and it’s a niche as hens teeth. I remember IL-2:Forgotten Battles forum going on about the ‘amazing VR experience’ of a flight sim. Which of course it would be. But they go on like the entire games catalogue is VR. Then you realise that -canned missions and all- is really all they have to justify several hundreds of dollars/pounds outlay.
Gameplay is what matters and you’re just polishing a turd with rose coloured £$500+ glasses! |

Anyone remembers the 3D TV flop? Same thing will happen here soon, I should think.
The only use for these is research, really. That's where stepping into different shoes and close inspection from different angles matter. But then again, 3D rotation, zoom and spanning have already been invented and I can, in fact, look at the same thing on 10 different monitor from different angles at the same time, so... How does this glass help me, really?
Leave HW like this to military peeps that need to see through stuff to spot the bad guys. |
