Spector's a genius. Maybe getting away from traditional publishing will let him work his magic again.

God knows, we need good designers in this biz--too much shit, too little good stuff.

Wow, where have you been??? Warren Spector is another overrated hunk of crap developer who's history leads people to believe he's some wizard because he knows how to use the media just like his BS rant to Rockstar games and GTA. Ok, these are his Warrens 'last' games. You tell me which were smash hits other than the original Deux Ex. Know what ur talking about before you start throwing credit around. And to save you the time, Thief: Deadly Shadows is $17 @ EB Games. Backyard Wrestling, who gives a shit? and Deus Ex: Invisible War is a total flop despite Spector's attempts at over publicizing the game. Who did he blame for the games dismal sales? Eidos.. No, Warren wasn't the problem. No, he wasn't going around gloating how good Invisible War was.. nah.. No, I just got magazine publications that have him 'quoted' as saying it's one of the best games around and it's just like he always wanted it to be. YA! That's why it's in the bargain bin today, cuz Warren is such a great developer. Pfffff. Warren Spector is nothing but an overrated has-been.

Thief: Deadly Shadows (2004), Eidos Inc.
Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This at Home (2003), Eidos Inc.
Deus Ex: Invisible War (2003), Eidos Inc.
Whiplash (2003), Eidos Inc.
Cel Damage (2002), Electronic Arts Inc.
Deus Ex (Game of the Year Edition) (2001), Eidos Interactive, Inc.
Frequency (2001), SCEA
Deus Ex (2000), Eidos Interactive, Inc.

hahahahha

you'd better check before stupidly copy-pasting the list of games from mobygames

Spector appears in the credits of Backyard Wrestling, Whiplash, Cel Damage or Frequency in "special thanks"

so it's in no way "Warren Spector's games"

and you seems to have forgotten Ultima Underworld and System Shock

// btw, Spector isn't a developper, he's a game designer

The only good games Warren Spector has made are System Shock 1 and 2, Deus Ex 1, and all of the Thief games.

I also have to agree with XXXX, all of his recent games with the exception of Deus Ex 1 and the Thief series have all sucked. Plus, his bashing of GTA and Rockstar Games was unneeded, as Rockstar pwned Warren Spector and ION Storm.

Three sucessful and in their own way innovative titles kinds of qualifies the guy as a great designer in my book. I don't think any serious gamer can take that away from him regardless of rants against violent gaming and some stinky sequels.

To move to another popular medium. Steven Spielburg has made some truely outstanding films but also some unforgivable tripe.

I wish Spector the best of luck and hope he give us another great game now that he's cut himself a bit a freedom and had a slap in the face regarding Deus-Ex 2.

BTW - Lets not be harsh on the guy for promoting the so so D-E2, I don't think any of us can honestly say we'd do any different if in his shoes.
