If you are happy with your 16GB there is no need to upgrade just now. But 32GB seems to be now mandatory for games coming in the near future and also for some other memory hungry programs.

RAM has pretty much always been the least expensive upgrade, it had a moment when it was every expensive years and years ago, but coupling it with a very fast NVMe PCIe SSD (nearest your CPU and not chipset) will benefit you no end loading.
Games like Flight Sim 2024 I have seen people say it utilises up to 64GB of RAM due to streaming etc.
anyway, modern rigs go with at least 32GB dual channel and things like editing/modding and gaming will be a cinch and not a chore.
I see screaming whining things going on about Starfield and it’s loading screens - calling it a loading simulator. It’s a perfect example why these brats should stick with consoles.
It loads levels for me in about 5 seconds, plus of course these loading screens are actually your in-game screen shots! Which again shows how backwards this generation is becoming day by day.

16GB was okay until last year or so.
If you are buying a new rig now, buy 128Gigs at least.
If you can, get the full 192GB (or whatever the motherboard supports).
Of that, use 16GB (or 32GB) with Ramdrive as a Temp directory.
Your system will perform well for a decade or more.
