Sony will release the long delayed PlayStation 2 HDD (which includes a 40GB hard drive and broadband Ethernet adapter, there is no built-in 56K modem like the planned US version) in Japan on July 19. The external model will retail for 19000 yen, while the internal model will retail for 18000 yen. The Internal Model is compatible with SCPH-30000 and SCPH-35000, and the External Model is compatible with SCPH-10000/15000 and 18000. Sony is planning to sell 10,000 units (2500 Internal, 7500 External) through the Japan PlayStation online store. Sony will also release a new vertical stand which fits both the PS2 and HDD on July 19, for 1500 yen. New model of the USB Mouse and USB Keyboard for PS2 will be released in September.
Seven PS2 games are confirmed to be compatible with the PS2 HDD, they are: Final Fantasy X (Square, July 19), Tamamayu Saga 2 / Jade Cocoon 2 (Genki, August 30), Beatmania II DX 5th Style: New Songs Collection (Konami, August 30), Guitadora: Guitar Freaks 4th Mix & Drum Mania 3rd Mix (Konami, September 20, Capcom Vs SNK 2: Millionaire Fighting 2001 (Capcom, September), Atelier Lilie (Gust, Released) and A-Train 2001 (ArtDink, Released).
