- Breed Preview - Loadedinc have posted their
full hands-on preview of CDV and Brat Design's squad based shooter Breed
based on playing a preview build for the past month or so.
- Max Payne 2 Impressions - GameSpot has posted their own
hands-on impressions of Max Payne 2, the Remedy-Rockstar
soon-to-be-available crime action sequel.
- Knights Of The Old Republic PC Preview - PC.IGN has published
a
preview of the PC version of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, the
Bioware/LucasArts RPG that was originally released for the Xbox.
- Secret Weapons Over Normandy Preview - PC.IGN has posted
a
preview of Secret Weapons Over Normandy, the upcoming Totally
Games/LucasArts WWII flying action game.
- Counter-Strike: Condition Zero Preview -
CSNation has posted an exclusive hands-on preview of Counter-Strike:
Condition Zero, which just went gold. According to article, Condition
Zero has a new developer, Rogue, Gearbox and Ritual have all tried their hand
at the game, and now a small up-start from Orange County, CA is trying to make
a version of the title that's actually fun. Heh mess.
- Tribes: Vengeance Interview + Trailer - GameSpot has posted
an interview with Irrational Games' Michael Johnston and Sierra' Alex Rodberg
as they talk about Tribes: Vengeance, the upcoming next game in the
multiplayer shooter series. Subjects like new vehicles and new weapons are
covered. GameSpot also posted a new
Tribes: Vengeance trailer.
- Organised Crime Interview - HomeLAN has posted
an
interview with Jelmer Boskma of the Organised Crime mod team as he talks
about this upcoming 1930's crime action mod for Unreal Tournament 2003.
- Quentin Tarantino Interview - IGN has
conducted
an interview (pretty extensive article - four pages) with Quentin Tarantino,
the long-absent king of retro cool cinema.
- Madden NFL 2004 Patch #2 - Electronic Arts has released
another
patch for Madden NFL 2004, the recent football sim.
- Call of Duty Movie -
A new gameplay movie from Call of Duty is now available, showing off more
of Infinity Ward's upcoming World War II first-person shooter. Mirror:

- Red Orchestra UT2003 - A new version of the
Red
Orchestra modification for Unreal Tournament 2003 is now available.
- Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Goes Gold - IGN is
reporting that
the Rings: The Return of the King is gold for all-platforms and is
expected to be available "next month."
- Rome: Total War Pushed Back - Activision announced that Rome: Total
War, the latest installment in The Creative Assembly's Total War series, is
now on schedule for a fall 2004 release.
- Black9 Delayed to 2004 - Majesco confirmed that the Taldren's
sci-fi FPS/RPG is pushed back to some unspecified time in 2004. The
Unreal-powered game was originally due for release this quarter.
- Half-Life 2's source leak Editorial - TweakTown Gamer let us know
they have posted
an editorial on Half-Life 2's source leak, along with a summary of current
events.
- Is a virus or trojan hidden in the HL2 build being served up on the
Internet? -
While the Half-Life 2 source code story has quieted down a bit in the last
few days one interesting thing surfaced that may make people thinking of
downloading the compiled code think twice before doing so: According a report
on HalfLifeSource
the code may very well contain either a virus or a trojan. Anyone here got
some experience? Let me know :)
- PS2 Price Drop To $99 in November? -
Sources from Target today told IGN they have received printed fliers with
the price of the PlayStation 2 at $99. The change will allegedly happen in
mid-November, right before Thanksgiving, the traditional starting gate for
Christmas shopping in North America.
- PS3 Chip in 2005 - Sony Corp. announced this week that it plans to
begin manufacturing its next-generation Cell chips, destined for the
PlayStation 3 and other consumer electronics products by late 2005. The Cell
chip will be a thousand times more powerful than the PS2's processor and will
be built using a 65-nanometre process and 300mm silicon wafers, according to
Sony.
- Multi-game archive resource extractor -
XeNTaX let us know that
the main multi-game archive resource extractor in the world just moved to the
open source community in two ways: 1. The original MultiEx Commander is now an
open
source project. Those interested may download the source code of the last
XeNTaX' binary release from
here and join the project by contacting Michael Zuurman, or download the
binary first from www.xentax.com. 2.
A brand new open source project has been started from scratch entitled
OpenMex.
OpenMex is a Python implementation of the MultiEx principle, aiming at
overcoming the limitations of MultiEx Commander.

Nothing worthwhile is being released this side of Xmas apart from *hopefully* Max Payne 2, what a bummer of a crap year this has been for games. |
