  • Counter-Strike Xbox Preview - HomeLAN previews the upcoming Xbox version of Counter-Strike based on playing a partial beta build of the hit PC multiplayer shooter. "The biggest attraction for Counter-Strike Xbox will most likely be its Xbox Live multiplayer support, complete with voice chat via the Xbox Communicator. Because of its closed system, the Xbox version of the game should keep cheaters down to a minimal".
  • Rome: Total War Interview  - HomeLAN has conducted an interview with Ian Roxburgh of The Creative Assembly as he talks about Rome: Total War, the next game in their long running historical RTS game series.
  • Railroad Tycoon III Interview - HomeLAN has posted an interview with Phil Steinmeyer of PopTop Software as he talks about Railroad Tycoon III, the upcoming next game in their railroad strategy-sim game series. Railroad Tycoon III will be available in October 2003.
  • Gamespot Censors Derek Smart Interview - According to the official 3000AD website, Dreamcatcher along with Gamespot censored Derek Smart Interview, without telling him about it. Derek said that he'd never agree to it.  That's why he published the "uncensored" interview again on his own website. Now you can finally enjoy it :)
  • Madden NFL 2004 Patch  - EA has released the first patch for their latest edition in the footbal sim franchise Madden NFL 2004. The 270kb patch updates the roster, fixes save game crashes, fixes some GFX card issues and plenty more.
  • Max Payne 2: the Fall of Max Payne movies - Rockstar Games has released a set of no fewer than five movie trailers for Max Payne 2: the Fall of Max Payne, revealing more from the third-person shooter that is nearing completion at Remedy Entertainment.
  • Pirate Hunter and Patrician III Gold  -  Encore announced that Pirate Hunte (also known as Tortuga) and Patrician III, life simulation games developed by Ascaron Entertainment, have gone gold. These two PC games offer a unique combination of trading and fighting, one on the high seas of the Caribbean, the other in the cities of Northern Europe during the Middle Ages. Both are expected to be on store shelves in October and will retail for approximately $30 and $40, respectively.
  • NHL 2004 Available - EA Sports has announced that the 12th installment of its popular hockey franchise is available now in retail stores. NHL 2004 is available for the Xbox, GameCube, PlayStation 2 and PC.
  • Retail Stores Request Freedom Fighters Delay, Now Coming October 1st - Freedom Fighters, the action shooter from Hitman-developer Io Interactive, was pushed back a week following requests from retailers, Electronic Arts told GameSpot.
  • GameCube $99 Price Drop Now Official - Nintendo of America Inc. announced a new MSRP of $99.99 for its Nintendo GameCube home game console, effective today, Sept. 25. This great new price opens an $80 price advantage over its two console competitors.
  • Nintendo to Enter China's Video-Game Market With a New Console  - Nintendo will enter China in October with a new video-game player specifically designed for a country where the illegal copying of software has kept game makers such as Sony Corp. and Microsoft Corp. at arm's length. Nintendo will sell the console, called the "iQue player" for 498 yuan ($60), President Satoru Iwata said in an interview. To prevent copying, Nintendo will tie up with local retailers and distribute titles through the Internet. Users will download software onto a 64-megabyte flash-memory card at a local store, paying 48 yuan for each title.

Rome:Total War is going to kick all other RTS titles into touch! Anyone who has seen 'Time Commanders' on BBC2 in the UK will know what the game will be like.

Man, Derek Smart likes to listen to himself talk! He seems quite intelligent, but even the limited amount of self-promotion that Gamespot was willing to run is too much. The extra helping is just way too much.
