- Windows 2000 Security Flaw Worse Than First Thought - A Microsoft
security flaw announced last week is
much more serious than initially thought, several security companies have
said. It's important that businesses apply a new patch to all Windows
2000 systems, advisories state -- not just those running Microsoft's IIS Web
server software.
- Microsoft Sets Limits to Stop Spam - Microsoft has reduced the
number of e-mail messages that
Hotmail users can send each day to 100 in an effort to prevent spammers
from using the service to export spam. The cap, put in place earlier this
month, only applies to users of the company's free Hotmail e-mail service, not
to MSN 8 subscribers or to users who pay for MSN Extra Storage, a Microsoft
spokesperson said Tuesday.

to boost sales in the vital but struggling European and American markets.
In Europe, Nintendo has shipped 400,000 units of Game Boy Advance SP, an
upgrade of the Game Boy Advance, ahead of its March 28 launch. The new device

lit screen and a sleeker metallic-look finish to appeal to an older consumer
base.
- IBM to produce Nvidia chips -
Nvidia has signed a pact with IBM Microelectronics to help it avoid
putting all of its graphics chips in one basket. The chipmaker on Wednesday
will announce an agreement in which IBM will serve as an additional
manufacturer for the GeForce family of graphics chips. Nvidia's current
manufacturer is TSMC. Nvidia wanted more manufacturing capacity and was
looking to avoid the pitfalls of working with just one producer, said Nvidia
spokesman Derek Perez.
- Bye-Bye CD-RW? - Today, a top 52X/24X/52X
CD-RW drive costs less than $150. But for $100 more, you can get a DVD
burner with CD-RW functionality. If you add another $50, you can buy a fast,
new rewritable DVD drive like Pioneer's DVR-A05.
