  •  Nintendo Sets Launch Date for New 'Zelda' Game  - Nintendo  on Tuesday set a late-March release date for the long-awaited new entry in its "Legend of Zelda" series and said customers who order the $49.95 game in advance will get two other games free.
    Nintendo set March 24 as the release date for "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker," a game that was first previewed in August 2001.
  • Digital media a Plus for Windows XP  - Microsoft will release early next year a Plus expansion pack for Windows XP that will enhance the digital media features in its desktop operating system. At the same time, the company said, it will make available the final release of its Windows Media 9 software. Windows XP Plus Digital Media Edition, which Microsoft will release on Jan. 7, marks two firsts for the Redmond, Washington, software maker.
  • Compromised in a Flash  - A flaw found in Macromedia's animation software leaves Web surfers vulnerable to attack when they visit an Internet site or, possibly, open an e-mail, a security firm said Tuesday.  The vulnerability, found by security firm eEye Digital Security, allows an attacker to create a hand-edited Macromedia Flash, or SWF, file that can compromise a PC or Macintosh if its user views the file with the Shockwave Flash Player plug-in for Internet Explorer, Netscape or other browsers.   • DirecTV Broadband Customers Await Plan - DirecTV Broadband, which said Friday that it will close within 90 days, is expected to update its 160,000 digital subscriber line (define) customers today about transitioning to other service providers.
  • NASA to launch satellite to study ice  - NASA scientists hope to get new insight into the future of global ocean levels with the launch this week of a laser-equipped satellite designed to measure the waxing and waning of the planet's largest ice sheets. The Ice, Cloud and Land Elevation Satellite, or Icesat, is intended to spend a minimum of three years making nonstop measurements of the elevation of the ice sheets that blanket Greenland and Antarctica. That will help answer the question of whether those layers of ice, which are up to two miles thick in places and contain an estimated eight million cubic miles of fresh water, are growing or shrinking.
  • US$20,000 phone stolen in USA - The USA's Orlando Police Department has reported that last week, an owner of the ultra-exclusive Vertu mobile phone had it stolen when he was visiting a nightclub in downtown Orlando. The phone is very unique and is valued at US$19,450. The Vertu phone is only available in four stores in the world. The phone contains 150 grams of platinum. The keypad numbers are rubies and other jewels. The faceplate is sapphire crystal. Mr. Rado, the owner of the phone is race car driver for team World Racing (NHRA, Modified Class), Reading PA. Other owners include Madonna, Gwenyth Paltrow, and Tom Ford (Gucci).

  • New DVD player accesses your PC - Sonicblue is looking to solve all your PC and DVD needs. The Santa Clara, Calif.-based consumer-electronics maker on Monday announced its new DVD player, the Go-Video D2730. In addition to playing DVD movies, the new player will be able to access content on PCs, such as photos, music and videos, via a wireless network connection. The company will demonstrate the device at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and will begin selling it for $250 in the first quarter of 2003.
