  • Anti-pirates hit Danish P2P users with huge bills - The Danish Anti Pirat Gruppen (Anti Piracy Group) has issued invoices of up to $14,000 apiece to approximately 150 users of KaZaA and eDonkey for illegally downloading copyright material.  APG monitored the file sharing networks for available files with Danish IP addresses - and went to court to get the users' personal details from their ISPs, armed with screen shots of, for example, the KaZaA window showing the files on the user's hard-drive. The users are charged about $16 per CD and about $60 per full length movie. If they pay now - and delete the illegal content from their hard drives - then the amount is cut in half and they avoid going to court. Those who don't pay up are to be sued.
  • eVGA Goodies - eVGA.com sent us an email that they have posted new content at their web site: GeForce FX Preview ~ NVDVD 2.0 Review ~ Win a GeForce4 Ti 4600!Win a GeForce4 Ti 4200 or MX 460! and America's Army: Tournament 2002, enjoy :)
  • Longhorn keygen is trojan - We were a bit disappointed to find that it was a lame VB program, but good enough as long as it spits unique keys out. Its quick! spits out keys like crazy! We were more interested in it because LH keys are .NET keys.
  • ICQ Pro 2003a Beta Build 3777 - Oh yeah, a new version of ICQ is out.
  • Lycoris Desktop/LX Build 64 Beta - Lycoris and Ericom Software team up to release Desktop/LX InterConnect, a simple corporate desktop with full office suite and outstanding host connectivity tools. Desktop/LX InterConnect features Ericom Software's native Linux PowerTerm InterConnect software, the Lycoris ProductivityPak office suite, and the Lycoris Remote Desktop Client
  • VirtualDub v1.4.12 P4 optimized  - VirtualDub is a program designed for fast, powerful AVI/ASF/MPEG-to-AVI processing. This version is optimized for processors supporting SSE2 (Pentium 4). This is an exe only, install this version over the original version.  Then weird things began to happen, a strange app called syscfg32 began trying to access the internet on IRC ports.
  • WinACE 2.3 Beta 4 - Shortly after beta 3, there is beta 4 of WinAce 2.3. Don't be confused by German installator, the whole program is in English.
  • nForce Linux Drivers - nVidia has just released a new Linux drivers for their nForce motherboard chipset line. These new drivers have built-in support for the nForce2.
  • nVidia Detonator 31.80 WHQL Drivers - The guys at DriverHeaven got hold of some older drivers last night, 31.80's to be exact (mirror). Since the latest set from 31.xx available to download prior to this was 31.50 - I guess this makes this driver "new". These 31.80 drivers come in 2 flavours - Windows 2000/XP set as well as Windows 95/98/ME set and they're dated 21/09/02. This is a generic non-multilanguage release supporting all nvidia cards to date.

Hahahaha....you have to read the full story for that Danish APG. Pretty hefty bills for the unfortunate users, BUT the register mentions about hoax files or possibly files with the names of copyrighted material. I wonder if the APG actually downloaded the files off the suspected pirate(s) system(s), and tested it out to see if it was the real thing or not. If they did, is it okay for them to do so, even if for the purpose of collecting evidence?

The problem here is not encryption or file sharing capabilities, but they are aiming at individual users, it's easy to spot ip addresses within the p2p program, or they can just monitor the connection with some tools. I don't think you could hide that or encrypt your ip address, right?
