NVIDIA v40.72 WHQL Detonator Drivers - tech

I've noticed that NVIDIA's Windows XP/2000 Detonator driver page has been updated with a WHQL version 40.72 (though the release date on the page is being shown as November 11, 2002., but it seems to be a typo). The Windows 9x/ME driver page also has the 40.72 WHQL drivers, but are showing a date of November 8th :) Well, who care :) As usually they claim up to a 25% increase in performance, nView 2.0 multi-display technology, NVRotate, NVKeystone, Digital Vibrance Control, New control panel streamlines user interface, Robust Channels that enables higher faster performance and better stability for all applications, CineFX Simulator and NVIDIA's patented Unified Driver Architecture (UDA) - supports all products in a single driver binary.

they are no different than the other 40.72.... what i like about the 40.72 drivers is i used geforce tweak util with them and my score shot up 600 points compared to other drivers niiiiice

yep but since the 40.72 drivers i have strange texture bugs when playing counter strike, so.... back to the 40.41

well, I got 3% increase, but some bugs like VSync set to off - then it's back to on again then next time you look. Stupid shit like that all through it..

the 4072's totally hosed my system (win xp pro/amd 24200+/geforce 4). after installing without a hitch and rebooting the screen blacked-out upon booting into windows (i could hear the windows start-up). the monitor was receiving a signal; it was just black. after several reboots with the same result, i gave up. i've never had any problem with nvidia drivers, even unofficial releases. fortunately i had a system restore so i didn't have to reformat, reinstall etc. beware and be prepared.
