  • DVDxCopy 1:1 DVD software released  - 321 Studios has released their software DVDxCopy package. Because the software is able to make 1:1 copies of DVD movies it's unsure if the laws of the United States will allow the software, altough it's intentionally made to backup the movies. The software can be purchased here and will cost you 99.99$ (they now only accept pre-orders with 20$ off). Don't worry, I really don't profit from this announcement :))
  • Open Office 1.0.1 Review - The OpenOffice 1.0.1 Suite features 4 main programs - Writer (Word Processing), Calc (Spreadsheet), Impress (Presentations) and Draw (Drawing). Now obvious are the lack of a Personal Information Manager, and Desktop Publishing program. The lack of a PIM is a pretty big down side, but if you can get over this, I'd say for many of us, the essential programs are there and OpenOffice is free, as can be expected (since it is an Open Source program), and that alone says a lot. It is also available for users of Windows, Linux, and Solaris, and they are working on a Mac OS version as well.
