  • The Brain as User Interface -  Recent experiments have shown that direct control of prosthetic limbs by the brain may be less difficult to achieve than was supposed. In early May, neuroscientist John Chapin and his colleagues at a Brooklyn, N.Y., medical center used a wireless receiver and electrodes implanted in a rat's brain to steer the rodent anywhere they wanted it to go. About a month later, bioengineer Andrew Schwartz of Arizona State University (Tempe) announced a method to quickly train a small number of cells in a monkey's brain to accurately control the 3-D movements of a dot on a monitor.
  • Afrotech's Hard-disk Sound System  - Why pay 500$ for Klipsch's latest speaker system? You can make something that looks way cooler for the price of a DIY amplifier and some HDDs out of a dumpster. It doesn't sound quite as good but who cares!   • Trident Interview - Gamer's Depot have posted an interview with Trident's VP of marketing about their upcomming XP4 GPU. They state the XP4 will provide about 80% of the performance of ATI's Radeon 9700 PRO at less than 1/4 of the cost.
  • Vantec IceBerq Chipset Coolers - The IceBerq comes with the CCB chipset sink (copper or aluminum depending on which one you have), two smaller more traditional looking passive heatsinks, a three to four pin Molex adapter, Thermal tape, push pins, and a spooge of silicon thermal paste. As you can see in the pic below, what was especially cool about the passive sinks was that they were colored to match the red tinted aluminum or the high shine copper of the active chipset coolers. The copper colored passive sink is NOT made of copper but rather aluminum.
